It's not that people are against Bethel, we're just so impressed with Mount.

While the second part of your statement is accurate, the first part about people being against Bethel needs a little work.  A large number of SJU fans, myself included, would like nothing more for Christmas than Mount hanging 60,70,80 or 100 on Bethel :-*

from what little I know about the injury it's a "what you probably won't see".  I hope I didn't scare any Mount fans with my portrayal of Bethel as having talent.

AO from LP;  "what you probably won't see"... what the hell does that mean?  >:(

Why didn't you just enroll at Bethel... you're so enormously enamored with them.???

70, 80 or 100 won't happen,  but 60 is a distinct possibility.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

As a NJ expatriot living in Texas I'll have to agree with the statement that people down here "know football in a much different way"... as in no parent in Jersey would order a gangland style hit because her daughter didn't make the cheer squad. Tony Soprano or not, there's a bit more going on in Jersey than most of Texas.

KS
TCNJ probably has the highest concentration of students spending the weekend, but to your point, most others are pretty quiet.

RC...   Mount Union has played, and beaten, Dayton twice. The Raiders beat a great Dayton team in 1986 by the score of 42-36.LK counts that win as his best ever. The Purples also defeated them 27-10 in 1992 behind the Great Jim Ballard and a super defense. The 1986 game was an upset,Dayton was so much bigger, faster and loaded with D1 players nobody gave us a chance.Senior QB Scott Gindlesberger and true grit carried the day.

AO...Since LK has a 246-20-3 (.920) going into his 22nd year with 9 National titles, 16 straight OAC titles, one winning streak of 54 and another of 55, what hasn't he seen yet? What us Mount fans' have or have not seen does not matter. So please, enlighten us with your football knowledge.

BTW...
Ithaca averaged 34 pts/gm and gave up 17 Result - Mount 42-18

TCNJ...averaged 25/gm and gave up 14/gm Result - Mount 59-7

SJF...averaged 35/gm and gave up 14 Result - Mount 52-10

Bethel...averages 30/gm and gives up 17...hmmm.....

I would like to ask someone who is familiar with the Bethel team what they are like.   I have very little knowledge of Mount's opponent.    Are they big?  Are they fast?    Passing team?  Running team?  Any info would be appreciated.

I have a question concerning Mike Zimmerman.   I understand he has the D3 record for consecutive extra points.  Does he have a shot at the NCAA record?

AO

Dusty-Read the whole conversation and you would understand I was referring to skunks announcement that somebody brought up something again that "we haven't seen yet".

Bethel hasn't exactly proved itself as level headed after big wins as apparently Mary Hardin-Baylor fans were in '04.  BU fans rushed the field after beating the johnnies this year and last, including a stomp of SJU's logo with the #1 hidden inside it at Collegeville.  But the johnnies are not the issue here.  They've been done for two weeks and still harboring a grudge against the royals for beating their john's a month ago.

If the raiders are going to win, it's probably going to be through the air as Bethel's run D has been very tough as of late.  I wouldn't be surprised by a couple of interceptions though.

Bethel has a power running game that is well suited to December football.  If Wetzell can't go and Einerson gets the nod, expect a little more passing than is usual for the royals as Einerson has a stronger arm than Wetzell.

Purpld,

AO is a pot stirrer.....nothing more.  I would not read a lot into his posts regarding this week.  You have seen better teams than this one from Bethel.  He will now come back about how they beat SJU and we are sitting home watching the rest of the playoffs.  Larry will have his troops ready for this band of Bible Thumpers.

MUC-Raider,

Bethel is a sound run first, second and third team----pass only when needed.  They have an excellent OLINE and a very good FR RB named Flannery.  Their QB was the MVP of the MIAC this year although it sounds like he seperated his shoulder at Central last week.  Defense is solid with quick LBs and an active front.  One very good DB in Carr, two weak CBs that Garcon should eat alive.  Special teams are shaky, especially kicking....returns are good as evidenced by the return for TD against SJU.  They are in uncharted waters for them so coaching will be critical.  Steve Johnson is a good coach that historically has made a bone headed call per game until recently.

Why Mount will win----your defense will get off the field and not allow the Bethel offense (which is slow in terms of activity level, not speed) to get on you for 10-15 play drives.....they will not strike quickly, so a couple early scores for MUC and I see a blow out.  They will have to abandon their game plan if down and throwing is not their strength, especially with a backup QB.

Thanks for the update on Bethel--much more than I bargained for.  Too bad about the QB.
