All I know is, St. John's is the best team Mount won't have to face this year    8)

Naw, I think that would be Central (IA).

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

CruAlum39

hope you're wrong hscoach.  I think it would be a great championship to have MUC and UMHB matched up for a 2nd time.  Kind of a proving grounds that UMHB could beat Mount again and get their 1st national championship, and a litte revenge for MUC at the same time.

However,  I do think they definitely have their work cut out for them to get there.  One week at a time.  Let's get past UWW this week!
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

HScoach

Don't get me wrong, I sincerely HOPE we're playing MHB next week.  But I'd be pretty shocked if we were.

::)  Surely you're referring to the '03 SJU team. "Oh man, I wish I could go back in time. I'd take State!"  -Uncle Rico
I can hear the laughter from Pella all the way around the world.

MU Posters-
The official unofficial Bethel Has-Beens club dis-avows any and all posts by Freebird.  That is all.

OK, lots of posting today so I'm gonna knock these out one by one and get myself on a roll...

Here's what Bethel's coach has to say--seems like they are pretty north south:

Mostly a "South" team this week.

If all this bores you (maybe it's just me ::)) follow this internet archive link to see what  D3football.com looked like at various times in the past 8 years

D3 Football Internet Archives

Awesome link.  I just wish they had an archive for Oct. 22, 2005.  It was also scary to click the link to the OG Post Patterns and see what it used to look like.  You've come a long way Pat.

The conversation is over when you consider who has advanced farther in the playoffs---having to play Mt. Union or not-Bethel is still in the semifinals and the other teams are not--ipso facto-Bethel is the best.

Incredible logic.  Ipso-facto, moronic.  Right about now, it's looking like Bethel won the weakest region in this year's field which is also why they're playing MUC in the first place (1 vs. 4).  MUC may have faced it's best competition in week one of the playoffs or last week in the semis.  No one knows really.  Maybe the only reason Bethel is in the semis is because they were lucky they didn't draw MUC's bracket in the first place and thus they didn't play and lose to MUC big in the first  or second round.  Just because they've made it this far means nothing with regards to whether or not they are the best team Mount's faced/will face.  Garbage.

And I'm out.

RA,
While I respect your passion and conviction how do you let yourself believe that the Raiders are somehow not as dedicated. Don't you think for a moment that they are in the possition they are in now because of the same dedication. Joy in spending that time together for just one more game? I think so. And as far as not caring about our stats how do you think we got them? Beating teams each week, yes even teams like Bethel. I will leave you with some of those stats to review. RE '03 , my biggest concern is we beat Bethel 66-0 like we beat Bridgewater and go to the Stagg with an "all we have to do is show up attitude" Thatis not taking anything away from SJU, they kicked our ass.

Stats is stats      MUC     BETHEL

What a wonderful page.  I wouldn't mind seeing that as a splash page you'd have to click on to enter the main site ala mtunionfootball.com.  Think you can make that happen Mr. Coleman?   ;)

Reality Check: What kind of moron doesn't recognize a team that makes it to the semi-finals of a tournament.  You cannot be considered for fourth place or higher when  you did not make it to the final four.  If, after the Mount game you want to look at the score and try to compare whoever lost to another game that the winner played, whatever--but it's not going to mean anything at all.  The west region has typically been the toughest region of all the regions out there.  Moving Whitewater out brought it down a little bit this year as the region only included 3rd ranked central, 8th ranked (formerly 3rd before losing to Bethel) St. John's, 9th ranked Bethel, 17th ranked Eau Claire-, 19th Redlands and 24th ranked St. Norbert and not in the playoffs but nonetheless ranked-wartburg at 15th and St. Olaf at 23rd.

Redtooth,

Thanks for the repost.  That was really funny.  It doesn't happen often, but I had tears in my eyes from reading that one...

On another note, I'm a big time Mt fan, but we need to give the Bethel guys a break.  They should definitely be on here boasting about their team.  They've earned that right.  It would be a boring place if they just came on here to acknowledge their subservient position.  And the coach saying they will "punch 'em in the mouth", I applaud that.  That's not saying anything bad about Mt, that is his approach.  He may be doing it to get his own team fired up more than anything else.  And bulletin board material?  LK doesn't need it.

I'm looking forward to Saturday and watching the air go out of the Bethel baloon.  I can hear the cheers for the first few minutes while they think they are still in the game.  Then later, they will be cheering simply to get a first down.  One of the funniest moments of last weeks game was when SJF had a first and goal late in the 3rd qtr down by 40 some points and a lady behind me was cheering "Jam it down their throats."  That was good fun (of course it was followed by Mt stuffing them on 3 plays and a field goal - not exactly stuffing it down our throats).

So Bethel - be proud of your team.  Keep the hopes high.  Prepare to punch Mt in the mouth.  But also bring some good entertainment for the long ride home.

Good thoughts Dale. After a slow start the discussion on this board finally ascended into some decent smack of late.

Be true to your school, and yes Bethel is doing something right to get this far

I'll miss you guys this week because I've been working sick for several days and I need to get better for "The Trip"

Hey KnightStalker.......I think you are on to something.......

I think what us Mount fans will do is post "allowable comments on our board when your team (who has no chance and everyone knows it) plays Mount in the play-offs.   ;D

That way when the SJFFan-like fans of the world...the AO-like fans of the world....the blankety blankety blank fans of the world come in here....everyone's on the same page.

I think the first allowable comment should be..

  • We might be the best team MUC has played all season but Mount is going to hand us our azzes anyway.

;D

And when is it that the John Carroll fans get into arguments with Northwestern (Minn.) fans? Because that's where we are now. :)

Add ONU fans to that list now, my friend.   ;)
