Ack... The new picture of Bethel O- lineman Tommy Davis on the front page of the site is killing me.  I'm sure he is a great O-linemen, but his form looks TERRIBLE in the picture with his head in front of feet.  At least he has the one hand inside of the defender's hands.

As a former O-lineman, and I'm sure our old o-line coach (hscoach) will agree with me, I had to say it... "Sit down, Tommy, get your butt down."

(By the way, Pat, that isn't a shot at the picture, I know they are hard to come by, especially for O- Line guys)

Kubiak,
From someone who spent some time in Afghanistan, stay warm.  Hopefully it hasn't gotten brutally cold there yet (of course, if you are in some of the mountains in the central part of the country, it always seems brutally cold).  Best of luck, brother.  Stay safe.

So having Whitewater moved out of the West only brought the strength of the West Region down a little bit??

Here's what Bethel's coach has to say--seems like they are pretty north south:

http://www.the-review.com/news/article/2952541

Mostly a "South" team this week.

Very nice!

I'm not really sure that trying to pound the ball between the tackles and keep it North/South is the best way to attack this year's Mount D.  With VK's aggressive schemes and the way that the defense attacks the ball, I would think that an offense is going to have to rely on misdirection and cutting back to find open lanes.  I do think if they stick to trying to pound it in the middle of the line that they will be a mostly South team this week.
They should have practiced harder.

It'll be interesting to see if Coach Johnson keeps with his promise of "sticking to the run" if he falls behind by 3 touchdowns.

JK--

While I am not an O-line coach, are you supposed to "sit down" while run blocking???  (the guy behind him has the ball)

He could be zone stepping to get his head in the hole, and that's why his hands are also not inside.  (could be working them to the outside shoulder.)
YOU KNOW IT!!!!

I hope somebody going to the game tomorrow will get some good pics of Mount getting "punched in the mouth" and share them with those of us who will only hear the audio.   :o

Everything I read about Bethel makes it sound like we're playing B-W tomorrow.

+k for everybody, BTW (yes, I said everybody).  ;D

Reality Check: What kind of moron doesn't recognize a team that makes it to the semi-finals of a tournament.  You cannot be considered for fourth place or higher when  you did not make it to the final four.

I guess the voters in the D3football.com top 25 poll are a big old group of morons AO.  Afterall, they voted CAPITAL as the 3rd best team in the country despite the fact they lost in the regional finals (round of 8 ) after their 2006 performance.  In 2004, they voted HSU 4th nationally despite the fact they didn't make it to the final four but rather because they played UMHB tough in the playoffs when they met.

All those morons...

The argument is flawed logic.  You're not the fourth best team in the nation because you are playing in the final four.  Thank God, credible polls like the one on this site recognize that fact and don't go to the "AO School of Rankology".

You are right, I didn't see the small sliver of football in the picture that identifies that the guy behind him is carrying the ball.

However, he still needs to get his feet under him, even if he is run blocking...

Don't look now but you and I are starting to agree more and more.  What is the world coming to?  Off topic, what in the world happened to your Bears Wednesday night?  I realize HC is having a great season so far, but an 11 point lead at half at home isn't safe?

Flawed logic?  I said nothing about Bethel being ranked #4 or better in 2008.  That I used the rankings from this year to judge the relative strength of the region that Bethel won in the playoffs.  Not exactly a bunch of cupcakes.   I do believe that the poll on this site is about as accurate as it gets, so I used it.

Let me say it again if you didn't understand the first time; rankings do not really matter.  Bethel has won 3 playoff games earning them the right to the semi-finals.  Teams that are done playing football have no right to say they are better than Bethel--they didn't beat Bethel-Bethel has won more games-end of story.

Again, if Bethel had played Mount in the first round, they'd be out, so are they still the 4th best team in the country?  Who you've played matters.

Just look at MUC and Capital in 2005.  If they had the playoff brackets like they did this year, I'm convinced we could have had an OAC Stagg Bowl in 2005.
