Small but Slow

After seeing my first playoff game in 12 years I'm considering pawning my kids' Christmas presents and making reservations for Salem.  I figure I can get them back using next months mortgage $$.

You'd buy your kids Christmas presents instead of going to the Stagg Bowl???  What kind of a father are you--bring em along and tell them that it is the best present they could ever hope to get ;D ::)

underage drinking bust in Alliance....a couple non prominent fb players in the mix....hope this does not change the focus...this is the second bust in two weeks and both times a couple fb kids have been involved...
I would hate to be the one to face LK on this one...

I know these guys are in college and whatnot, but holy cow, common sense.....

Quick question for all of you who know the obscure rules better than I do:

In the playoffs there have been two times that our opponents have kicked on-side kickoffs and our guys have fielded the ball in the air--no knees down, etc.--and the play has been blown dead.  Why have they not been allowed to advance the ball like they would be on any other kickoff?  Nickoli had a clean catch of the ball in the fourth quarter this week and took off running but the play was blown dead by the refs.  WHY????

Waived for a fair catch.

Congrats to Justin Beaver for winning the '07 Gagliardi.

FWIW, I like that the MUC defense gets to hear all week from VK about Beaver getting the award ;D

My son would be fine with it (for a while anyhow), but the wife may not agree.  He was with me Saturday and loved the environment.  He's been to a couple Gator games over the years and loved the intimacy of the environment at MUC.  Of course, he's only nine and pretty much grown up on the sidelines of so he has credibility, at least with me.

Was the drinking bust at a local establishment or on campus?  It shouldn't be much of a distraction to the big dogs.

I guess that's the drawback to a 200-man roster.

The more opportunities to screw up the greater the chance someone will.  It's probably more of a distraction to us on the outside than it is in the locker room.  If anything an incident of that sort can unify a team.  The kids are busy with finals and preparing for the game.  They don't have time worry about a couple young guys getting into trouble.  Once the season's over and they come back after the new year they will be dealt with by the team leaders.

And we also would have had Ohio State going for two losses in a row in the championship game! ;)

Hey, careful with that one.   :)

Mark my words.  You'll see the Buckeyes perform at a much higher level than they did last January, win or lose.

Unfortunately, my son has travel basketball games on Saturday and Sunday next weekend and I live in Virginia!

As to the money thing.  Try being a Buckeye alum and going to NOLA for the BCS Championship Game.  Now that one will drain the XMas, mortgage fund, etc.  A trip to Salem is fairly inexpensive, just a long trip from Ohio.

But they were both dressed for this last game--in fact they both got to play late in the game.  From what I've gathered, the "bust" was actually on the street--cops stopped a group that was walking back to campus and got them that way.  From the Alliance Review:

"Arrested in the area of the 2300 block of South Cherry Avenue were the following persons...(seven names mentioned in article)"--this group included the above mentioned football players.

"All but (name deleted for this post) were contacted as they were walking in the listed areas."

Pretty sure we can find a couple of guys who'd appreciate the chance to suit up in the Stagg out of the remaining 155.  ;) I rode to Salem on a bus full of JV's in 1997. Those guys were as pumped as if they were going to play. BTW We watched Rudy on the ride in from Princeton WVA. They were ready to hit the field
