Well, that might work except for the NCAA roster limit for the playoffs! :( ;D

Pretty sure we can find a couple of guys who'd appreciate the chance to suit up in the Stagg out of the remaining 155.  ;) I rode to Salem on a bus full of JV's in 1997. Those guys were as pumped as if they were going to play. BTW We watched Rudy on the ride in from Princeton WVA. They were ready to hit the field

Why were you watching me??  What was I doing?
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Small but Slow

A trip to the DIII championship is miniscule compared to DI.  My wife could not believe the ticket prices for last weekend.  If I was still living in OH I'd think nothing of the drive to Salem.  From west central FL it's a bit of a haul.  Most of the folks here I know that went to Glendale last year weren't doing it on teachers' salaries.  Of course neither UF or OSU has made it to 11 of the past 15 national championship games either.

You can add that same for the haul from MI to Salem - a long way driving, but really not that expensive overall for the trip, motels, meals, etc), but worth it if one decides to do it.

I'm surprised the COACH'S WINNING PERCENTAGE statistic hasn't been compared yet.

Larry Kehres = 92.3% (260-20-3)
Lance Leipold = 92.4% (13-1)

Advantage?  WHITEWATER! ;D

Your numbers are slightly off but who is counting.  Well I am since I brought it up .  Real numbers are 92.4% for LK and LL has a percentage of 92.9%.  Now if you eliminate those three nasty ties that LK has then they have the EXACT same percentage.  92.857%

Worth it, no doubt.  It will also get me out of a few Christmas parties and a retirement party.  I'm selling myself on the trip as we continue.  My brother and I went to the first one in Salem in '93.  We saw Ballard receive the first Gagliardi, heard Rocky Bleir address the teams at the luncheon, and hung out in the parking lot a bit prior to the game.  That is a beautiful area for a football game.

That's what I get for copying someone else's data.  Should have done the math myself!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

93% winning percentage over 20 seasons, that's unreal!  I wonder how that compares to coaches at all levels, including high school, and other sports around the world.  Anyone ever do the research on that one?

I really hate to admit how long it took me to get that,,, Rudy

As far as expenses go, it's a 4:00 PM game. You can leave the Alliance/Akron/Canton area at 8:00 AM and easily be in your seat by game time. Games done by 9:00, head home and be in bed about 3:30 AM. It's gas money, tolls and the price of the tickets. And how many other Bowl games can you and your child watch for 22 dollars. And the concessions are cheaper than our high school games. It's the last real deal in sports.

Here's the link to the blurb from the Tampa Tribune referred to on a previous page.  The Trib and St. Pete Times actually have done nice articles about Mount Union and Coach Kehres in the past.  With four big time D-I programs most people around here the lower divisions don't get much love.

I agree with you - also, some neat sports pubs/restaurants as well as fun shopping in Roanoke and Salem.  Yours sounds like a great plan!  I'm trying to do the same for this year i.e. talk myself into it! ;D - seems like others are too - see my post about this over on the NCAC board as aueagle discussed his "dilemma"!  I mentioned that I've been to two Stagg Bowls, but actually it is three as I attended one in King's Island, OH with my brother and dad when it was held there, and then two in Salem (not to mention watching all the others that have been televised).  Anyway, if you go, have a great time and safe trip.

True, but 3 of 6 is pretty good for D1.  Now to get that second win!

hscoach,

I was thinking that as I hit post.  It was an abysmal performance last January.

Here's a blurb about TCNJ's Womens' Lax coach when she was inducted into the US Lax Hall of Fame this year. She's only 48 and has coached 18 national championship teams at TCNJ ... perhaps she could concentrate on football next.
Sharon Pfluger (The College of New Jersey)
Pfluger, who has won over 92 percent of her games at The College of New Jersey, is being inducted as a truly great coach. Pfluger has gone 318-26 in 21 seasons at TCNJ, setting a NCAA record with a career winning percentage of 92.4. Her teams have won 11 NCAA Division III championships and won a NCAA-record 102 consecutive games from 1991 to 1997. She has twice been selected the IWLCA Division III National Coach of the Year and she has also led TCNJ's field hockey team to seven NCAA championships and nearly 400 victories since 1985. As a player, she was a two-time All-American at the school.

Regarding the onside kick that was blown dead in last weeks game......there was indeed a fair catch signal given just as soon as the ball left the tee. However, the signal was given by someone other than the kick returner. I think the kick returner was caught offguard as well. The question is, can ANYONE call a fair catch, even if he is not the kick fielder? I ve honestly never seen anyone other than the returner call for a fair catch. In this instance it was called by a midfield blocker on the frontline, and the catch was towards the sideline just behind the first line of return blockers. We need an official clarification.

By the way, do we have a fullback ready for this game? Im not knocking Bruney. He blocks pretty well downfield. But inside the 10 yard line...I want someone more "fullback like" to plow the way.
