Back to the onside kick issue; The officials are not likely to throw the flag for delay of game for advancing the ball if a member of the return team other than the person giving the fair catch signal receives the ball and attempts to advance it.  The logic is that he is not necessarily aware a fair catch was signaled since he was probably focused on the ball.

Yea, Im sure unless you have 5 guys signaling for fair catches and 3 guys not, in an attempt to trick the kicking team, you probably wouldnt see the flag go up.......

It's a judgement call and not one officials are likely to make unless it is either an obvious attempt to trick the opponent or the official is wearing his rabbit ears.

Then, since Nickoli took off after fielding the ball, why wasn't a flag thrown for violating the free catch rule?

This same thing happened in the SJF game, I believe.

Please tell me that MUC isn't resorting to this kind of crap.  ;) :D ;D  (Smiley's mean I am kidding)

Let's hope the Friday weather (high 52) sticks around an extra day. Not looking forward to a repeat of two years ago Snow Bowl.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Too bad we're not playing the game in Salem, VA today.  70+ degrees and sunny...... >:(
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

At least footing should be somewhat stable with the new turf.  Of course, that isn't always the cure we think.  Evidence being OSU vs. Michigan a few weeks back.  As I recall from '93 the wind in the stadium can be a bit challenging.  The box score is proof of that.

"Here are my 5 reasons:  All 5 starting MUC O-Linemen will be recalled by Ohio State right before kickoff.  Let's be honest, they have been the difference the last two years.  Their "skill" guys always have and always will be average.

Ok maybe not just that, it's their O-line and undersized yet incredibly athletic and aggressive defense are the real reasons for their dominance.

But, not to worry Double Dubs faithful, Da' Beav just won the Heisman (Gagliardi),  Da' Hawks have been on ESPN the last three years, and they are starting to put guys in the league.  A few guys will get a shot this year too.  I promise you, the recruits/transfers they get will be insane.

MUC Faithful, this is what they call the writing on the wall.  End of an era, it's due time for a changing of the guard."

This from the WIAC Board.  "Average" skill guys at Mount Union?  Whatever this guy is smoking must be seriously good stuff.

Today's Weather Channel Salem forecast is 70 high and 20% chance of rain.
The 10 day forecast has it back up to 56 high and 20% chance of rain.
Saturday's forecast is the 10-day low with 35 high and 60% chance of rain and sleet.
I hope they're wrong.

The MUC O-line was definitely a huge difference Saturday.  BU's defense pursued well, and didn't miss many tackles, but when Mount ran straight at them Kmic, Wray, & company had four to six yards before making a move.

The "average skill" guys statement is classic.  Mount may not have the physical phenoms other schools get from time to time, but year in and year out every athlete on the field has enough talent to play his position well enough to win championships.  We all know the end of the era will come.  The Wisconsin schools have tremendous resources to knock Mount off the throne, but they have to compete against one another yearly for the talent, which will make it difficult for one of them to take the crown and hold it for long.

I know this is obvious to some, but I'll say it again for those who haven't noticed.
Whitewater's defense is most likely the best defense Mount Union has seen all year.  The guys up front are big and move well.  Their linebackers are as good as they get in D3.  Their secondary is top notch.  They have a lot of experienced players.
I'd like to hear from anybody from Capital who can tell us how the two defenses compare.

Typical Salem, VA for the Stagg......UGH!   >:(

Let's hope it's at least decent.  Too many fun activities to be ruined by some crappy weather.  Oh yah.....I guess that includes the game.   ;D

I tend to agree with the assessment of Brunie's blocking in the secondary versus the red zone.  Scott Thomas looks very powerful to me.  I wonder he would be a good blocker at fullback... However, blocking is as much about passion as having the skills...
I don't know the personalities of the players to know.  I do see a very powerful set of legs when Thomas runs the ball.  Not the scatback speed of Kmic or Panchik  who has shown some good moves....

RaiderPa and other Mount fans,

With the above conversation regarding fullbacks, how many more yards rushing would/could Kmic have in his career if he had a lead blocker like Moore had in Pugh.  Several of us SJU fans were talking last week about how tough that combination was to defend.......it is scary to see the two best backs in DIII come off the same team.  They were the best I've ever seen.....and two of the best guys in the world as well.
