None of the experts predict Mount Union will score 40 points! This means WWW will stop them 60% of the time, the Raiders will score on only five of their possessions,WWW will limit the Raiders to four or five touchdowns??Are you kidding me?Is there going to be a blizzard?

Mike Gottfried was the analyst who had issues partnered with Pam Ward last year for the Stagg Bowl.  They did the radio broadcast the following week of the Papa Johns. Com Bowl and toward the end of the game he had period of slurred speech and slight confusion.  A couple days later on a local sports talk show the host, a former player who played for Coach Gottfried explained that the coach was having some health concerns which lead to the periods of confusion and slurred speech.

Coach Gottfried has Ohio roots and an extensive knowledge of football throughout the midwest.  Prior to his broadcast career he is best known as the head coach at Pitt.  A friend of mine knew him from his days coaching in the Bucyrus (OH) area in the 60's.  I always enjoy his insights.  He frequently refers to old OH and Western PA high school and college coaches and players.

Thanks SbS -- After your post I did a little sleuthing and found that he really did have a stroke in 2005 and is still slowly recovering.  I'll cut him some slack.

After freezing our arses off in at the 2004 Stagg, my son and I decided to watch the game on our new HD set tomorrow.  The weather is expected to be worse along Interstate 81, so all you purple fans -- both teams -- travel carefully in our state.

GO MUC!
Mom

ESPN2 just noted Keeler's many failures against MUC while at Rowan.  Boo-hoo!

HELLO MEN!

Skunk and I landed safely in Salem.  We had the privelege of seeing "Mr. D-III" Pat Coleman at the Civic Center while picking up out tickets.  We are currently having the first "official Stagg Bowl beer" as I write this.

See everyone from Mount at the Pep Rally tonight.

I see that "the kid" picked against Mount.  Sigh......those guys just will never quite forgive Mount for 2003.   ;D

Thank the football gods they love to tailgate and treat all with great hospitality!

If there aren't "pundits" that can't see the other side, why bother?  As a "pundit" I didn't give St. John's a shot in 2003.  This is why they play the game (cliche)  :D  UWW has a shot cause they are a good team and they are in the title game.

I have to agree with you.  Bad weather will favor UWW.  IF THE WEATHER COOPERATES, I see Mount winning 42-14 or better as good a UWW is.  Mount is going to pull out all the stops for this game.  I just hope bad weather doesn't cause fumbles and mistakes due to bad footing.

Watching the D-IAA championship game tonight, please tell me that MEAC officials won't be doing the Stagg tomorrow!!!

mr. mom:

Wow, I have to agree with you.  They have done a rather poor job tonight in that game.  I do hope the officiating crew for the Stagg tomorrow does not put in that type of performance.  (BTW, you mean the FCS championship game, right?!! ;D ;) ::)).

Back home in Salem. The weather is still faily nice but appears set to go down in a hurry around 3:00PM. I can't see where it would help WWW that much if it was sloppy.

My call: 48-24, although I still be carrying my "60 for Seventies" sign.

Don't you mean the NCAC?   They were the worst.

Very overcast and a good deal cooler in Salem this AM. Just looks like football weather.

Latest predictions from the local news stations is the rain/sleet hits around 3 PM.  Man I HOPE they are wrong about that by about four hours.

Skunk and I have had our biscuits and gravy to overcome last night's debauchery, and its on to the tailgate around 11:30-12.

See a bunch of you there!

Just talked to a Warhawk fan at the front desk of our hotel and he said that he thought that this years UWW team is not as strong overall as the last two year's teams.  It didn't sound like he was sandbagging either--so maybe it won't be as difficult as many of us think.

Here's to a great game--lots of Raider fans down here--ate breakfast with Nate Kmic's uncle who flew in from Chicago yesterday.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....
