......I still cant believe Randy Knapp isnt catching the ball for somebody in the pros. All the guy did was catch everything thrown his way. The Browns need him as a posession type guy to keep drives alive like Brian Brennan used to do.

Catching passes in the NFL?  Uh?

Before I wonder about the pros, I would have liked to seen him catch passes in his last college game first. >:(

hscoach

Glad ya touched on that.  I remember the guy who "caught everything coming his way" dropping his fair share in his final game too.  I was afraid I was getting him confused with another guy so I kept quiet until you responded just now.

Just curious. Does Mr. Garcon have a Plan B, just in case? Major...minor...future interest?

Did Tony Sutton?

I honestly don't know. Hope he did.

Scotty

Great to see someone is around to ask that question.  And I'm glad to say the Vegas line was right when they had you as the odds on favorite.  We already know you think the OAC is all backwards and nothing but a football factory that the poor lil NCAC can't and doesn't want to compete against.  I've heard Pierre might head on over to Kenyon if things don't work out so he can chase a couple more trophies in the breatstroke or springboard or something.  I guess we will all have to wait with baited breath on that one...and waiting with braited breath will be great practice for when Garcon hits the natatorium.

Nice knock on swimmers. But we all know that swimmers along with most D3 athletes move on and move up.

Mr. Ypsi

I suspect that RC was toying with the 'baited breath' and natatorium bit.  (Though unless there are sharks or barracudas in your swimming pool, baited breath may not be dangerous, just a bit disgusting.  My wife and I have a standing joke: "I'll be waiting with bait on my breath."  "E-w-w-w.")

The term is 'bated breath' - same root as 'abated'.  If you have 'baited breath' what will you have left for catching the fish?

PimpInTheChat

who is this Knapp you speak of.....I  only remember  guys who actually made plays.

skunks_sidekick

Hey wait.....I DID see Knapp make a few plays at the "professional" level....he played for the Canton Legends and was pretty solid at wide receiver.  That's about the pinnacle of Mr. Knapp's professional career IMO.

Hey Scotty.....knowing that there is only TWO (2) kids that played for LK (using all their elgibility) that DIDN'T graduate in all his years as the head coach tells me that if Garcon doesn't make it in pro football he will have a degree to fall back on.  What will he do with it, who knows?  I am guessing that is a dilemma that many college graduates face every year.

Now that I mention it.......I wonder if my son is EVER going to put that Psychology degree to use ??? :-\

Considering that I started at Mount Union with Bill Unger and Perry Bourne and I graduated with Chuck Moore in 2002, I have nothing but great thinigs to say about any young man or woman who graduates from an institution like Mount in 4-5 years.

It is a degree that is highly respected and sought after by Notheastern Ohio Employers.

And as for being "full of one's self", there are a lot of high end sales positions open for people like that.

I hope Pierre runs track his senior year as well.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Randell Knapp had a great career at Mount;he was two time All-OAC.He dropped a TD in the first drive of the St John's loss, but played at an all-oac level and was a great player for the Raiders. He deserves nothing but the greatest respect.

My wife got her MASTERS in Psychology a few years ago.  She is now a stay at home mom who works part time for the local Humane Society...

Of course, she's fond of saying "It's psychology, I use it every day."

Unfortunately, it doesn't make us any money  ;)

Just like I use my Management degree, managing 13 year olds.

It's worked so far

Well you said it all. In D3. I watched game film with a pro scout and that's what he said the book on P.G is. "Beast blocking downfeild" against who ???? I happen to think he is one of those rare talents that can make it but not as a wide out (yet) as I so eloquently stated.  Watch the Stagg Bowl films and isolate on him and you'll see.  Truth is sometimes stranger than your fiction.

"OK Blocker" ?  Stealth....you always come up with some interesting observations.   ::)

He is/was by the far the best blocking wide receiver I have ever seen at the D-III level that also had his speed/hands.  I don't know specifically how he did in the latest Stagg blocking-wise, but having watched this kid play approximately 20 games in the last three years, he was a BEAST blocking downfield.

As to the rest of your claim, I cannot say.  You and some of your other Whitewater cohorts claim that Garcon was "shut down" by your corners was far from the truth.  Garcon was shut down by the relentless pressure that was put on Micheli.
There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

HScoach

My biggest fear with Garcon's shot at the league is health.  He couldn't stay healthy playing at the D3 level.  Which is why he didn't show up on special teams at MUC much.  What makes you think he'll stay healthy at the highest level?

I have serious doubts whether he'll survive health-wise long enough to prove whether he can compete at that level or not.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Small but Slow

D3 guys have a major disadvantage going to the NFL that they haven't competed against the top athletic talent at the D1 level, nor have they been seen play as often against top talent.  An advantage a small school guy has coming to the combine is the scouts don't have a thick book on them going in so they start with more of a clean slate.  The health concern is the same for every kid coming out of college.  Who knows how a guy will hold up in that environment.

frank uible

Believe me a prospect's health history at the time of the draft or signing is a major item for NFL Personnel  Directors - especially with respect to prospects of apparent marginal talent as is the case for all, or almost all, DIII prospects.
