I have no idea how I ever graduated.

i echo that sentiment
I resemble that statement.  :)

I'm trying to get a grip on the years between when I started at Mount ('66) and when I graduated ('02). My ex assures me I had a good time. ;D I am the only guy from my freshman class who went to a Stagg Bowl his Senior Year.(with his son)

+k for that.

Alliance is urbane and cosmopolitan when compared to not just my home town.  Heck, NE Ohio is the hub of society compared to the region of the state I came from.  I was talking with a colleague who's son is a freshman at Thiel.  We were discussing the unique opportunities available at a small school in a small town.  He, much as my parents did, likes the feeling of knowing there were responsible adults looking out for the best interest of the students at all times.

I wish I could identify with all this small town college but going to school in the Greater Ada area I just can't really relate.  We had so many dining, entertainment and night life options that I can't imagine what a small town would be like...  ;D

And I'd also like to say that on the way to a recent doctor appointment on the other side of town and found an Arizona Regal Beagle Sports Bar and Grill.  I wanted to check it out but it just doesn't have the same curb appeal that the Beagle in Ada exhibits.

Yes, few OAC towns can match the Ada skyline.  The grain elevators compete with those of Manhattan and Chicago.  I've been to quite a few of the campus hot spots at UF, and while they are nice, they lack the quaint feel of the 'Hood and Bier Haus.  I still have a problem paying over $5 for a pitcher or much more than a buck for a bottled brew.  I guess I just ain't that sophisticated . . . I'm also cheap.

...and yet it wasn't uncommon for MUC students to pile in the car in the middle of the night and to Salem to get Dunkin' Doughnuts.  Going to Salem for nightlife?!?!

HScoach

Heck, we'd travel 15 miles to get McDonald's!  And Mom would threaten us for a week if we didn't keep up on our chores.  "No trip to town if you don't clean your room".

Makes me think of all the old cheesy Western movies.... "Gee Paw, are we really heading to town??  Woohoo!"

The really said part is that I still live my daily life around the premise of any minute spent inside a city limit is a minute spent in hell.

So to me, even at 38 years old, a trip to Alliance is still a big trip to the City.  Heading to Canton is like pulling teeth (of which I still amazingly still have ;D).  And a trip to Cleveland or Columbus better involve somekind of sporting event or your can forget it.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

dude, RC....

How CRAZY is Phoenix this week with both the Phoenix Open AND the Super Bowl in town on the same week?

Are you going to the Crow's Next this week??

hs coach - Dealing with big city congestion and attitude pretty much ended my interest in attending big time events.  I'd rather watch events on tv in a comfortable chair in a spacious room drinking my $12 a case beer and $2 a bag chips than in a cramped seat in a crowded stadium drinking $7 a cup beer and $8 nachos.  Six years of living in the most densely populated political subdivisions in the nation made me a bit sensitive to crowds and waiting in lines.

AMEN, although I have to come inside VILLAGE limits to school everyday

Sorry HSCoach, but I had to break your misconception of me and give you karma for that

It's insane out here.  I'm honestly thrilled I am in the east valley and my commute to work only takes me to central Phoenix.  I am staying away from Glendale and Scottsdale altogether until the circus leaves town.  I'm actually staying holed up in the new house and working on unpacking all weekend long.  As a "local" it's a horrible weekend to get around and do normal activities.

I always heard that ONU was the farthest college campus from a McDonald's in the United States.  I don't know what one would do to verify these facts but I can vouch for the fact that the nearest Mickey D's is about 20 miles away in Lima.  And Lima (the big city) is just an acronym for Lost In the Middle of America.

I bet being a local is tough.  I remember the Phoenix Open alone made getting around Scottsdale really tough...I can only imagine.

The Super Bowl is here again next year.  The buzz around it is pretty cool as long as you can get away from it at the end of the day.  The last time it was in Tampa the kids were impressed by the number and creativity of the limos.  We also lived across the street from Innisbrook golf resort where there are a couple PGA events each year.  Those events seemed to alter traffic and businesses more than the Super Bowl.

Just wanted to thank D3.Com for all your hard work this year bringing small college football stories to us.I would respectfully submit you guys deserve a lot of the credit for the national interest in the Stagg Bowl, and the good TV ratings.

Any one out there heard anything about Bickel filling out his staff at Cap?  I know early on I heard a few rumblings from some of the other Cap fans about it, but I've seen nothing official.

One of those rumors was that Ancona was moving on, but he's still listed on the website and I have seen no official announcement of him leaving.  Did Bickel talk him into staying by, perhaps, offering him the OC job?  Or is it because he is the winter game manager for the Athletic department and he is waiting until those duties are fulfilled before he leaves?
