We missed having a leap year baby by less than 6 hours.  I was hoping for a little girl on February 29th so I could tell her that she can start dating when she turns 16.  Despite the invective rumors, I know Ric's math and grammar don't suck (and I'd let him correct my math without question), but if she were born just 5 and a half hours later, her 16th birthday would come in 2072.

HA!

And btw, ric's reputation as a mathematician precedes him.  I was going to let him do my taxes this year.   ;D

RC:  Enjoy the early years of a daughter.  Mine just turned 14 and I'm not looking forward to the next few years.

I've been telling my wife for years the reason we bought 6 acres is so I have plenty of room to bury the bodies of the boys chasing my daugther.  I think it's aboout time to relay that story to the kid as well.

My biggest fears as a father:
1.  My two sons grow up to play flute in the marching band instead of sports.
2.  My daughter grows up to date some boy just like I was at that age.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

HSCoach,

I can broker a deal (its what I do--brokering) between you and my buddy who won't need the brand new shotgun he purchased when his two year old daughter was born.

Ok so I am bit ahead of you.  I have an 18 year old  and twin 16 year old daughters.  It is not easy.  The only saving grace is that so far I am impressed  that my daughters have had very good taste in selecting boyfriends.  One is a potential RB that I could see going to MUC, just to keep this post on topic.

RC: Congrats on the baby daughter.  Don't let everyone scare you about the upcoming years.  I spent much time during my daughters' teen years terrifying potential suitors.  Sharpening a machete while sitting on a fresh bag of lime when a boy comes to pick her up plants a seed in his mind.

Seriously, make the most of the early years and remember them when she starts challenging you as a teenager.

Saintsfan: Thanks for the offer, but I have a couple shotguns already.

I've been thinking of the right way to.....introduce..... myself to the first boyfriend.  Being that I'm half hillbilly and half gear-head, I was thinking of showing the young lad all my various tools in the garage.  Especially my large bench mount vice.  Which is where his nuts will end up if he doesn't keep them in his pants.

This is like groundhog day. He just keeps saying the same thing and doesn't realize the rest of us just don't see it the same way. Hopefully if we leave him alone he'll go away.

Have you ever heard the country song, Still Cleaning This Gun?  If you haven't, its about a guy recalling meeting a girl's father before a first date and how he plans to use the same approach when a boy comes to pick up his little girl.  You don't want to scare the boys too much or the girls will sneak out to meet the pansy a#$ boys elsewhere.  Too many boys around here have been raised without any honor or the courage to come to the door and meet the parents before taking a girl out.  Of course, after the first few boys my girls brought around, my wife kept me away from them.  I can't say I've actually liked any the boys I met.  I'm not good at hiding my dislike either.

RC,

Just want to add my congratulations.  I have one boy (I should say man, he's 29) so I can't give you much advice on raising a girl.

RC-congratulations on the birth of your daughter.  I 'm lucky I never really had to deal with the boys with my daughter. I just had my son handle them. That way, my hands were clean and I could rest easy while he took care of the knuckleheads. Of course now that they're older she wishes he wouldn't be so involved but she's managed just fine. Just my 2 cents worth.

On another note, I have some friends in the NFL and the word is some scouts really, really like Garcon. Two in particular think he could make a nice defensive back project but obviously if he gets a chance at all it'll be on special teams. Their take on him was, "What was he doing playing DIII ?" When I hear more I'll post it here.

Man, I just know this post is gonna end up on another forum as proof that MUC will go to any legnth to land a recruit. HSCOACH just turned his daughter into a potential NCAA recruiting violation.  ;) The MUC haters will have fun with this one! ;D

Yes,congrats RC.There is nothing quite like father-daughter love,it is something special.Spence...Coach Siriani has raised the bar at WJU.I wish some WJU people would weigh in on this;so this will be it, but..their last coach was dying to leave and interviewing with what seemed like every college in the U.S.Unless I'm mistaken ,the program has not had as high as ranked teams as they have had under Coach Siriani. So by the measure of other coaches and Presidents in D3 Siriani looks damn good. After all, other D3 coaches rank his teams highly as compared with themselves. When he was hired, their Prez said he wanted to bring stability to the program, and he did.Insult me if you must but I'm not getting into a dick measuring contest. It would ruin my reputation.
