Sadly you gave a left handed compliment to the SC airman.

Spence

The point is that people from around the OAC have come together, shared their common love of OAC football, formed friendships and come to look forward to checking out this board each day. If you don't have to maturity to join in, in the same spirit, please go away. I'd rather lose a recent Marietta poster than a valued long term Capital fan.

Happy Easter to All (Even Spence)!!!

I think I will take JK's lead and stay away for a bit as well.

I'd rather everyone feel equally able to post the truth and correct the false.

So it's somewhat off topic, but I'll tie in Mount Union...

The DIII Mens Ice Hockey Championship just ended and I'm really not a fan of Wisconsin this year.  My beloved Mount Union Purple Raiders lost in the Championship game this year to UWW.  My favorite DIII hockey team, the Plattsburgh State Cardinals (I attended there 2 years before transferring to Mount) just lost the Championship game to St. Norbert College from--you guessed it--Wisconsin.  Ugh.

At least the Giants beat the Packers in the NFC Championship this year to save me from suffering a Wisconsin sweep.

jaypeter:

I saw in the newspaper today also that the NCAA Div III Ice Hockey final was scheduled for today.  Regarding other hockey news, Hope College finished 5th in the 16 team Div III National Championships of the Amercian Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) held in Rochester, MN last weekend (Calif, PA won the national title over San Diego State which beat Hope).  This was Hope's 7 straight year to the national tournament in 11 years of hockey existence.  They finished with a 26-3-1 record.  Although this is "virtual varsity" i.e. club collegiate hockey, it is still collegiate hockey as the teams are under control of the college administration and run essentially like varisty programs (Head Coach paid, use of college equip such as buses, vans, etc. at times); the college provides some funding but most is from fundraising by the team and its supporters.  Adrian of our league established a full varisty DIII program this year and hopefully, Hope and Calvin and others will follow in our league.  Hope plays Calvin every year in the huge VanAndle Arena in Grand Rapids and anywhere from about 4,000 people attend the games (they had about 8,000 in one year).  Hope has a very good following for their hockey club team as they often get about 1,000 fans at home games.  Anyway, thanks for the update on the NCAA Div. III hockey - even though it is a "tangential topic" for this board. ;D ;)

Hey seventies...:

That is a great movie quote i.e. "...you're out of order...etc." ;D :D  I love that one too - often use it when things get out of control, if you know what I mean! :D ::)

formerd3db: Thanks, as a teacher/coach I use the "and your powerless to do us harm"  quote all the time

Spence - The TRUTH is that after 6 years of enjoying this board on a daily basis I too am considering moving on.  This board pretty much sucks since you "joined us." Thanks for nothing. Go correct your C.O.

Yeah, and Adrian had a heck of a year this year.  Hopefully before long they'll get their strength of schedule up a bit to bolster their case for a tourney bid.  For those of you who don't follow hockey, Adrian finished 26-3 with 20 straight wins and didn't make the tourney this year.

OK, I promise, hockey time is over and I'm ready for August now!

For the record, I am not "afraid" of Spence.  I'm just sick of him.  He's the virtual equivalent of throwing yourself on the same spear again and again.  Whenever I read his snarky replies to nearly every post, I want to beat my head on the wall.

Now that I know he is an enlisted Airman, I understand.  I have had plenty of Soldiers just like him, but it was always easy to put then in their place.  Wish I had that ability here.

For now, I will be lurking, occasionally posting, and mostly just ignoring Spence.

Is friendly fire an option?
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I really doubt you have.

JK, trust me, sailors still know how to curse properly.  Marines just aren't allowed to say anything but OOOHRah and they grunt a lot until they make E-5, then they are allowed to swear at the new Marines.   Any officer worth his or her salt listens to their sargent or chief and learns how to cuss properly from them.  At least you didn't say anything about ripping off his f*@#ing head and s$#&&ing down his windpipe.   :D

Sorry -- sometimes trolls do get an upper hand when I'm away at the Final Four. Thanks to the person who reported the posts to the moderator, finally, today.

Not sure about the modern Navy guys, but this old salt can lay some words on you in a heart beat. Plus I am from the South which makes it worse.

JK, I think you have enough folks covering your back door. Keep on blasting away.
