At least E&H isn't forfeiting a league championship ;D

I grew up in Hartville and played for Lake when they were in the Senate League.

When did you graduate from Lake?  I might have played against you.

Three years after they invented the wheel???

Unfortunately, there is lots of bad talk about Coach Monty over on the ODAC message board.

I graduated in 1980.

HSCoach,
Didn't you mean to say your team might have played against his?  There's no way you got into the game short of a 50 point tilt one way or the other.  ;)

Just... Do Our uniforms look like s*it?,
Yess, but welcome to the board nonetheless.  I will have Doeder get with you shortly to welcome you to his family.  It may take you a while to understand his foreign language, but you will get it at some point.  BW3 is poorly represented on this board, as is JCU (my alma mater).  It didn't used to be this way, so I hope you bring some energy back to the Yellow Jacket side.
Good luck to your son.  Very few guys can be good enough football players to overcome the foul look of those uni's.  Like the sun in the sky, it is best not to look at those uni's for more than a few seconds straight.  That little tidbit is free,

Oh, that's 5 years before my time.  Never mind.

Also,  good luck trying to figure out all of the Post Patterns inside jokes from us old-timers in here.  The Doeder story is one the best.  Congrats on becoming a BW brother with the only guy to ever be traded between OAC schools.

Reality Check:
For the record, I was very involved in the offense as a 2+ year starter!

I made sure each play was started by getting the ball to someone who had enough brains and athleticism to do something with it ;D

4u called you the benchwarmer.  I just politely kept that same thought to myself.  I did voice my opionion that you played in the leather helmet era shortly after inventing the lightbulb and just before patenting the phonograph.

Since we have all this BW love going on, it appears they might be getting a new QB.

Steve McNeely, the West Branch QB the last 3 years, is apparently going to visit BW sometime in the next few weeks.  Apparently he isn't getting near the interest he thought he would from Baseball and is looking at continuing his FB career.

Dr. Acula

Welcome aboard Justdoit!  I've actually seen your son play in person several times.  He's a very nice player from what I saw and should do well at BW.  Who doesn't need a ball hawk?  Jeff Durbin seems to churn out exactly the type of kids that OAC schools like...smart, hard nosed and fundamentally sound.  They may not be the biggest or fastest, but they are just flat out football players.  Best of luck.

JK, seeing this made me wonder what happened to that WR Stecker (I think)?  It seemed like every time I checked the paper he scored a couple TD's.  I thought Coach Candle would have roped him in being an alum and all.

I saw the note about Kyle Hausler earlier in the week on the Capital web page and meant to mention it.  I guess I forgot.  If he's half as good a coach as he was a player, then it's a great hire.  Although it is tough to lose Stepsis, he's done a great job over the years.  Can't fault him, however, for following Collins and moving up to be a D-coordinator.

By the way, unlike the rumor about him considering MUC a few months ago, the post about West Branch QB McNeely visiting BW is true.  I was told by my Dad.

Dr. Acula,
I don't know why more West Branch kids don't go to MUC.  Candle is really the only one of note since the Woolf/ Kring days in the mid-80's.  Since then, there have been many very good products of my alma mater go to other OAC schools (Connon Thompson and Scott Greenanwalt at Musky, Josh Purdy at BW, etc.) and even non-OAC schools (Bobby Swallow at W&J).  Maybe it is the BW connection in the althletic department (my Dad- the AD and former head coach Jim Laut) or the Musky ties (the Heacocks are all WB grads).  I think a lot of it, much like me, is the desire to leave the area for bigger and better things.  I don't know.

I would have to imagine that very few kids want to attend college 10 miles from Mom & Dad.

I know when I was looking at schools, the first requirement was it had to be far enough away to guarantee that Mom wouldn't show up unannounced.
