reality check

Pierre must have impressed locally at the combine since he got picked by the host city's team.  What a great spot for him to try to make his NFL dream a reality.  Since the Colts also gave Arth a shot, I like this pick even more.  Great franchise, close to his college stomping grounds, some wonderful receivers to learn from; seems like a great fit.  Best of luck to him.

I know there were comparisons over the years between UWWW's Stanley and Garcon regarding draftability (if that's a word) and Stanley went 249 overall while Garcon was picked 205 overall.

Congrats to Garcon.  Wheaton's Andrew Studebaker went 2 picks before Garcon to the Eagles.  2 D3 players drafted in 08'.  Very nice.

Congrats to Pierre Garcon!  He's definitely a playmaker, I hope it works out for him.

Congrats to both Garcon and Studebaker.  I wish them the best.

Also congrats to the Raider Men's Track team for their 27th over all and 4th consecutive OAC championship. ;D

Congrats to Garcon (and Studebaker, too) and all the MUC'ers.

While us UWW fans has some diffs with some ... shall we say ... brashness (?) ... it's a win for all D3 to see him drafted.  And I would think Indy might be a perfect spot for him (heck, for any receiver).

Good luck, man.  Make the team and make us all proud.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

Quote from a story on the Colt's Website:

Pierre Garcon (6-0, 210), wide receiver, Mount Union, 39th selection sixth round, 205th overall. Playing at the Division III level, he caught 246 passes for 4,380 yards and 60 touchdowns. Garcon ran a sub 4.5-second 40-yard dash, Polian said. "He's probably in truth a work in progress, but we'll see," Polian said. "All of the measurable are there. He certainly would have been the first guy we went after after the draft had we not drafted him." He also returned kicks and punts, a role Polian said he could play eventually in the NFL, but likely not this season.

reality check

I just read the schedule update posted recently on onusports.com and I don't know if any team will have a more challenging open to their season than the Polar Bears.  They open AT CCIW champ North Central and then they open their 2008 OAC conference schedule AT MUC in a night game.

I also see Jamal Robertson's name on the Saskatchewan Roughrider official roster.  He re-signed in March and will fight for a spot on the roster.  The Riders don't have a stud RB on the roster with the incumbent being Wes Cates who ran for 800+ yards in 14 games.  He certainly has a shot but having not played much in the last two seasons means he'll have an uphill battle ahead of him.

If Garcon really busts his backside and impresses on Special Teams, he could have a heck of a homecoming game...November 30 Indy @ Cleveland with a 1:00 start.  That might make 2 Browns games I pay attention to this year.

Suddenly my son and I are fighting over the Garcon picture we had signed a year ago at the postseason awards night. ;) Autographed Garcon stuff IS available on eBay.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

So who's the most likely player to be drafted next year?  After two years of it, his team now looks to have the inside track to losing the Stagg!

I guess the NFL didn't think Wheaton quite as scary as did theaprof...

Here's what Andy had to say about the best player he ever faced:

TheFootballExpert.com:  Who is the best player you have faced during your college football career?

Andy Studebaker:  Jason Lewis of Mt. Union College.
