Kira & Jaxon's Dad

I met with the Administration of a new Middle School opening up in this area (North of Tampa, FL) and am happy to say that I will be the first Head Football Coach at Crews Lake Middle School!

Thanks much to "Small but Slow" for the excellent recommendation that allowed me to get this job!

The school isn't complete yet, but their website is pretty cool.

The best part is that the school mascot is the RAIDERS!  Our colors are black and silver, but I am going to try to get them to add some Purple accents!  :)

If you go to the "Home Page" link at the top of the main page you can see some pictures and videos of the school construction.  The Gymnasium looks pretty cool with the Black and Silver.

good luck to everyone in the OAC this comming season... It has been a long off season and I am ready for the football to begin...
I get the chance to work out with one of the Purple Raiders D-linemen this summer
I am very glad to have the chance to get back into a little shape and hopefully help him out as much as possible
My goal is not to get injured now that i am 25 pounds over weight...

I myself have not played since the 2005 season when it ended with a 34-31 loss to eventual National Champions Mt Union (I like to believe this was the National Title Game)

KD, Congratulations, I know alot of us can share your excitment. Of course right now I'm on the other end of the spectrum, exhausted after a day at a district track meet, sad for all the kids who ran their last races and experiencing leg cramps from being on my feet all day.
I wouldn't trade it and we sure don't do it for the money. :D
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

KD, congratulations on your new coaching job.  Train them up well and send them north to Alliance. ;D

Kirasdad:  Congrats and goodluck!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Thank you for all the congratulations.  I will do my best to make sure the FL to Alliance Pipeline stays alive!

Congrats, Kirasdad, on the new coaching position.  Coaching at that young level means that you can be instumental in creating future HS and college football stars by providing the opportunity for them to learn proper technique and fundamentals as you will be the first introduction to the sport for many at that age.    Tell the rookies that the key to success in
football is.............to hit the other guy harder than he hits you.   ;D

The Memorial Day services in Secaucus, NJ last Thursday evening and yesterday morning were well attended and went off well.  We have had the same kid playing taps since he was about 12, he is now a Jr or Sr in high school, the kid keeps getting better.  Yesterday the man who has been my mentor in the VFW and a PT boat sailor read the names of all the Secaucus war dead.  As he read each name a Boy Scout placed a flag at the crosses that we erect at the town hall every memorial day.  After the reading of the war dead the town kid played Taps and we raised the flags back to full staff.

Today the Stalkerette is taking Buddy Poppies to her class and teachers and is going to teach them what the Poppy means to the vets.

Thanks to all who took time to remember the men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.

Thanks as always for your thoughts on Veterans and Memerial Day. Sadly, I lost so many of my veteran friends the past two years I couldn't face hearing Taps at our local observance. I had my own private remembrance.

Thanks to all who served and all who lost some one they loved.

Picked up a couple of poppies myself at the commissary yesterday.  Put one through the button hole of my 2 year old's shirt.  He was very proud and wanted to show everyone who walked by.  He'd stick out his chest and say "Flower" (or something close to that in 2 year old speak) so everyone could see.  It was quite cute.  Ultimately, the poppy met the same fate as all "toys" of a 2 year old...

To those of us who served, Taps really means something.  Since 2002, I can't hear it without tears coming to my eyes.  Doesn't matter where I hear it, whether standing in formation at present arms or alone someplace, tears come and run down my face.  I suspect they always will, and I suspect as I move further beyond my active service time, I will have to answer the question "Are you OK?  Why are you crying?"  Right now, however, most understand, and I can assure you I am not the only grown man crying when the last note sounds.

Seventies, Knightstaker, Runyr, and anyone else I missed, thank you for going before us, for laying the groundwork.  God bless you.  Your deeds are NOT forgotten.

BillyRayJimBob, desertraider, and anyone else I missed, thank you for serving now (or recently).   Your sacrifices will also never be forgotten.

You all are among the best that America has to offer.  I try every day to live up to the awesome responsibility I now have as a Military contractor to provide our great Warriors with the best training and equipment I can, and that I still have as an Army Officer (National Guard now) to be the best leader I can be.  Our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast guardsmen (can't forget them now), deserve nothing less.

Hope you all had a great memorial day...

Knightstalker

+K to JK for remembering the Coast Guard.  Too often they are overlooked, I always try to acknowledge them as my older brother spent over 10 years in the Coast Guard.

Trinity plays 46 games to win a national championship in baseball, but their conference thinks 15 games to win a national championship in football is too many games?!   :P
(I won't replay the other sports they play many more than 11 to 15 games.)
