Trinity plays 46 games to win a national championship in baseball, but their conference thinks 15 games to win a national championship in football is too many games?!   :P
(I won't replay the other sports they play many more than 11 to 15 games.)

Isn't it ridiculous?  That, to me, makes a farce of the argument they make on football.  The Ivy League is the same way.

Although, in the discussions I have had with the few Ivy Leaguers I know, they say that the "academic" reason they won't participate in the FB playoffs and do in others is that Football conflicts with first semester finals.  I guess that the second semester mid terms aren't as important so Basketball is OK and Baseball is after second semester finals.  At least that is the line that is floating around those campuses.

I would imagine the NESCAC has a similar rationale...

It still stinks.  Football games are on Saturday.  And they are in an area where they wodn't have to travel far to play on Saturday.  I MIGHT...MIGHT... be able to understand if they were a TX or CA school and had to leave during the week for the Saturday game.  Only a few schools I know of have finals on a Saturday, and then, it isn't many.

Like I said before, a complete farce of an argument.

As long as Trinity doesn't ever break MUC's 55 game winning streak, I could care less what the NESCAC does.

Sure, it would be nice if everyone in D3 participated in the playoffs, but does anyone seriously think the NESCAC would be anything better than another decent  East Region team that can't compete on a national level?

For years, I took my shirts to a laundry in Seattle that had a picture of the Williams football team on the wall with something about how many conference championships they'd won like it meant something.  Seeing that every week was hard ("had," if you're from Boston) to take.  Plus, they have purple uniforms on in the team composite.
We all know the best D3 team in the country wearing purple has never been from New England (okay, Wisconsin this year).

Oops, I apologize.  Go Ephs!  Beat Amherst!
I didn't realize their were Eph(ing?) alums lurking on the Ohio board.
Sorry, I don't understand their conference's discrimination against football playoffs.

Congrats KD!!!! Keep up the FL PIPELINE we started a couple years ago at Belleview  ;)   Congradulations to all the young men and ladies who graduated along with my son 2 weeks ago. It was an emotional goodbye to the football stadium. Coach K congradulating Jr. and telling him he is truly a champion in life meant a lot!!  God Bless Mount Union, I'll miss you.   We'll be followers for life.

B4 - Best of luck to Jr and thanks for spending time with us. Stop by from time to time.

The more Grads that go back to Fla and tell about Mount Union, the better.

Kevin will do his first Larry Kehres football camp this month, as well as his second Kent State camp with Josh Cribbs of the Browns and Max Lane, formerly of the Patriots. He's going to keep me working through 2015 when he graduates and hopefully leads my track team to state. 8)

Guess I better start following Florida high school football. ;)

I was trying to find a kid I worked with when I was doing radio at the University of New Haven and I saw a signing with the Grand Rapids Rampage of AFL1 and while the guy I was looking for was nowhere to be found, I certainly saw a familiar name, Tom Arth.

He hasn't played but he's on a roster and has been there since signing on May 13.  Good to see he's still chasing the dream.

Kirasdad - Just for laughs, write down what your life was like before you took the coaching job. File it away and look at it  a year from now. Hopefully your wife is ready for a life altering experience as well.

PS, if you Net more than a dollar an hour after buying books and videos, equipment the school won't pay for, t-shirts, stuff for that special kid whose parents can't afford football shoes, food for after the games, and putting in a thousand more hours than the school is paying you for,  I'll be amazed. ;)

But it will also be the most satisfying job you ever had!

For sure. If there's any doubt, check the smile on my face at Jesse Owens Field this friday when my Freshman Girl Shot Putter throws. I'm way more excited than she is. ;D ;D

Small but Slow

Kirasdad is going to make us all proud.  He is going to work for a great administration and he's getting my right hand man to boot!  If he gets the talent I'm thinking he might we could be talking LK type of winning percentage.
We really need more of a DIII influence in the area.  I've tried to build a pipeline to Alliance, but any kids who I feel can cut it are intimidated by the 200 man roster, which indicates to me that they don't have the competitive fire to make it anyway.

Let me the first to say that I would love for the MUC roster to be filled out with a bunch of kids who feel they can't cut it.  I welcome them to the OAC and to the Purple Raiders.  I might even pledge a dollar towards their first tuition payments.
