I've tried to build a pipeline to Alliance, but any kids who I feel can cut it are intimidated by the 200 man roster, which indicates to me that they don't have the competitive fire to make it anyway.

Let me the first to say that I would love for the MUC roster to be filled out with a bunch of kids who feel they can't cut it.  I welcome them to the OAC and to the Purple Raiders.  I might even pledge a dollar towards their first tuition payments.

Great.  They'd be average and banned by the NCAA.

Nice try RC. ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

But it will also be the most satisfying job you ever had!

For sure. If there's any doubt, check the smile on my face at Jesse Owens Field this friday when my Freshman Girl Shot Putter throws. I'm way more excited than she is. ;D ;D

How'd she do?

OK hscoach ya got me.  Honestly, I couldn't even do the dollar thing.  I mean if I gave a dollar to every incoming frosh in the MUC football program, I'd be out like $700-800 a year (my figures are rounded ;)).

How'd she do?

She finshed 12th, which was great. Now, as a freshman, she has been to the State Meet, competed and hopefully gotten the nerves out of the way for the next three years. Thanks for asking. ;D

Jamal Robertson was traded on June 5th from the Saskatchewan Roughriders to the Toronto Argonauts for a former 2nd round draft pick.  ONUsports.com had a nice update on Jamal's situation with the Roughriders and the next day he got traded.  He started his pro career with the Calgary Stampeders but he'll be fighting for a spot with Toronto just like he would have been with the Riders.

Jamal Headed to Toronto

Ever wonder what happened to former Buckeye (and former NFL'er) David Boston???  Apparently he's up in Toronto too.  No other D-III guys on the Argo roster but Jamal is battling at RB with, among others, a guy who apparently never even played past high school (Da'Shawn Thomas from Salem High School in GA).

And on a completely different note, I just saw what the pride of Otterbein, Matt D'Orazio has done this year.  He of course won Arena Bowl XX when he was with the Columbus Destroyers but he signed this year to back up Tony Graziani of the Philadelphia Soul after two seasons with the Chicago Rush.  I guess he's gotten some good minutes based on the fact he leads the AFL in most QB statistics and is sixth in the league in rushing.  How about 58 TD's to 4 INT's?  That's Bill Borchert territory.

I just saw a pic of him on the colts website. It's in the action shots - but you have to select his name to get it. They have 6 but 3 are the wrong guy (#3 Burgess is on the helmet). Pierre is #85. Other than that - no news.

Had a chance to speak briefly with LK today at the beginning of my son's LK youth football camp. As always, he asked all the questions, so I have nothing to report. (Made my day when he looked up at me walking towards him and remarked, "Well at least there's one person older than me here.")

Footnote: Had the other Coach Ross (Clyde) been present, that comment would not have been necessary. ::)

Always a joy to be back on campus and have time to visit with some friends, stuff that doesn't seem to happen on game days.

My friend in the registrars office did tell me that the incoming freshman class is of record size. Also there are drawings of the renovations to the fieldhouse which include an auxillary gym/wrestling room and extending the building across McKinley to accomadate making the indoor track 300 meters as reported here by others. Also the main entrance will move to the hallway between the track and the swimming pool. (I always knew track was more important than basketball) 8)

I did see Pierre's ratings on Madden 09.....might be a Colts franchise this year on the game.

On a barely related note, I am happy to say my nephew (Adam Bellmay) has accepted a verbal offer from tOSU's recruiting class of 2009 as a Defensive Lineman.

The way iot relates to here is that MUC was the first school he looked at over the winter and of course he liked it a lot.  (my influence?)  It could also be that his girlfriend is an incoming freshman playing soccer this fall.

In any event then the offers from D1 started coming in, the last one and the most important was tOSU.  It took him all of a couple minutes to accept  the offer.
