Liddell had "the catch" from what i was told. Against John Carroll at a Stadium they were using while the new one got built, on fourth down, on a pass that got deflected, ti keep the "streak" alive.  Im sure its different then the one your speaking of, but that was "the catch" when i was there.

Klum should def garner mention for the all-time team. When he left, he was as good as they get in the secondary. I believe his injury prevented us from advancing to the Stagg Bowl, and i assure you im not alone.

Hey, is Chenos gets in because he had "The Kick", shouldn't Adam Irgang get in because he had "The Catch." Without him we might still be playing JCU in overtime.  ;)
Adam had the winning catch in the JCU overtime game in '99, the winning catch over JCU the year before and our only TD to set up "The Kick" against St John's, take your pick.   8)

Hellllllo my OAC brothers, long time no talk!  A few days back one of your posters asked about possible transfers for St. John Fisher or if Mount Union will be facing the same team as last year minus some of the key seniors who departed.  Well we found out one of the transfers is a QB from Cornell (not the one in the midwest) which is good since QB is one of the positions that needed to be filled.  There is also talk of a Line backer from West Virginia transferring as well as 2 or 3 other D 1/D1AA players coming in but details are sketchy at best at this point.  Here is the write up on the QB if anyone is interested (quoted from another Fisher poster on the EBpp).

Still trying to find out some info on the LBer, but the QB transfer from Cornell is Robbie Brown (6'1", 205) from Webster Thomas High School.  Not sure if he redshirted last year or not, but he was listed as a freshman on Cornell's website last season.  Robbie Brown was a former All State QB at Webster Thomas in 2006 as well as 1st team all-county, 1st team all-greater Rochester.

Scouts Inc. write up as follows:
Brown is a gutsy, tough competitor with average size and arm strength, but he plays with moxie and has a swagger about him. While he lacks elite tools, he is very accurate, shows excellent touch and timing and is a good athlete. Works mostly out of the shotgun and works the read-option very well. Can buy second chances and can make some plays with his legs. Is at his best as a short-to-intermediate passer. Shows the ability to drop the ball between the linebackers and safeties on seam routes. Is balanced and set in the pocket, hits his plant foot and delivers. Shows great touch on the deep ball. However, Brown must improve mechanics and throwing motion. He cocks and winds up during his delivery. Elbow gets lower the more he tries to get something on it. Lacks velocity on throws he really needs zip on. Size is marginal. You like his style of play, but upside is probably better suited for the Division I-AA level.

not much doing on the WIAC board so I thought I'll venture over to OAC land and see what's going on.

So is 2008 the year someone gives MUC a run for their money in the OAC, or will they run the table again?? Which team (outside MUC) has the best chance? Capital?

My list is very similar to eveyrone else's but i thought i would through it out there. With me being a younger guy you will probably notice some more names as of recent years compared to some other lists.

FB: Ibeh
WR: Marino, Garcon, Boubonics, and Knapp
TE: Atwood
OL: Gerber, Rychel, Blanchard, Bauer, Bradley, Lewis, Weimer
(notice my list for OL is longer than most, but being an OL-guy i have heard so many of the stories about how good some of these guys were i couldn't leave them off)

DL: Payne, Domin, Dillard, Campbell, Stickley, Braden
LB: Hall, Black, Spisak, Pierson
DB: Kern, Miller, Clum, Bugara

A hail-mary floater that was in the air for 3+ minutes doesn't get caught if Jesse is at safety.  I completely agree with his injury being a major factor in the semi-final loss to MHB.

Plus the fact Bruney couldn't hit the broadside of a barn in the 4th quarter......

Or the 4th quarter fumble after the shotgun snap hits the motioning WR in the leg.......

Or that Monty absolutely refused to blitz the QB.......

In hindsight, I think Mount wins that game with VK calling the defensive signals.  And I'm not alone on that theory either.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Ed "The Plague" Bubonics might be the best nickname of all time.

section13raiderfan

My list for all time greats, at WR   1. Garcon 2.Marino 3. Bubonics 4. Knapp. You put those 4 in their prime on the same field at the same time and I would favor MUC over Notre Dame. Honorable mention to Kershner...not the greatest size or speed, but tough, durable, and dependable.  Oh, and I remember Gollate getting flagged for personal fouls for motioning for the crowd to cheer for him after touchdowns. Arms raised over his head and motioning to bring it on to the masses. SO WHAT! I say. Same goes for Garcon....posing...SO WHAT!

Tight Ends. 1.Knestrick 2. Irgang 3. Atwood. Irgang was more of a wide receiving threat from the TE position than the usual TE types. Great hands anyways.

Running Backs. 1. Moore 2. Pugh 3. Kmic. But, Kmic could move up depending on his Senior Year.

QBs 1 Borchert 2. Ballard 3. Wolf ...or is it Woolf, maybe Wolfe

Linemen Not my specialty, not sure how to rank the talent. HELP ME HERE GUYS!

Will ponder the defensive greats later. Gonna go replay some games first.

AMEN TO THAT!  And they sacked the QB on the previous play to seemingly put them at long odds to score as time was winding down. AND the QB was a flipping backup who was in way over his head in that situation.  AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! :'( :-[ ??? :o :( >:(

Pat Coleman

Oh come on -- he was making his third career start. :)

Don't know if this was posted or not, but it's a video of Pierre's combine workouts.

HS Coach,,,did you tell Monty before the game to blitz,,,???or just a fan who knows what should have been done on monday. Maybe LK told him not to blitz,,also, a blitz of 6 men puts  the replacement at safety into a man coverage on the big receiver,,would that have been a sound defense. I know the ball was in the air a long time,,but it was released quickly,, a blitz may have made no difference at all.  just my humble opinion. And if you just do not like Monty just say so,,,do not keep bringing it up .

section13raiderfan

Monty wasnt perfect, who is?, and I thought he was great for MUC. But in this particular instance I have to agree with HSCOACH. The QB was rattled under the pressure of the blitz all game. The play immediately previous was evidence of it. And his line was of little help to stop it. This situation is what the PREVENT DEFENSE was designed for. Unfortunately when there is no rush and unlimited time for all the receivers to get into the end zone, you have a problem. If you let me throw it into the end zone with all my receivers already there, and the defense is protecting areas of the endzone and not the receivers, suddenly even MY chances are enhanced. If just one lineman was harassing the QB, I say MUC wins another ring. It wasnt the wrong call for the situation, nor were the defenders inept. Its just better to play prevent anywhere else on the field other than IN the endzone.  Also dont forget that the receiver was a very good athlete in his own right. If I remember right he was an older athlete who was attending college after his military commitment was up.

Pat Coleman

The older receiver was P.J. Williams, who had played minor league baseball. TE Walter Sharp, who made the catch, might have been older too, but it was Williams who was well-known for it.
