Section13,
That's a great question. One thing I think you can say about Monty and Kerhes is their consistency no matter what the situation, and when I say consistency I mean Coach Kerhes is always looking for the first down and always looking to get great field possession and control the time of possession, and defensively Coach Monty was going to make every team work for every yard they get. I think a lot of people forget that MHB was a great running football team, because of that our defense adjusted, even to the point we flexed a DT. When you consistently blitz a good running team you're going to get gashed and give up big plays. I know some will argue the situation, but we played defense like Mount had under Coach Monty for years, the conservative way. For years it worked, this game it didn't so obviously you now have some questioning, however if we won it would be a great call ( as a player at that point in time, not going back, I think we probably did the right thing). Our defensive did what they could, offensively we put them in bad spots all game, the second half our offense didn't move the ball, and we never obtained good file position. By no means was it by play calling, we were running the same plays and that we always did, we just didn't' perform. There could be several reasons we didn't, and I am not trying to make excuses: MHB defensively played great the second half, offensively we just didn't click like we did most of the season, and finally the ball didn't bounce our way, for years it seemed as though the ball bounced the mount way all the time but that day it didn't. (When I say the ball didn't bounce our way I mean momentum, luck, the football gods, whatever you want to call it just didn't go the Mount way). Oh yeah mental mistakes, like the snap off the leg of the TE. Those all killed us offensively. Defensively I think two or three big plays hurt but once again they were on the field all half, and the field position they were given wasn't good all half.

So to summarize things, you can't blame coaching, and you can't blame team mates, the offense or the defense. Plain and simple MHB beat us. I hope no thinks I am trying to justify a loss or make excuses because I am not.

End _Of _ Overlook,,,  Very Positive accounting of the MHB game,,the coaches , players and the outcome.  Some fans do not realize how HARD it is to be perfect every time you go on the field.Playing at MUC is very difficult because you  are held to the highest of expectations year in and  year out. I have found tailgating and being a fan quite easy ,and I am now enjoying that aspect of the game on saturdays . However I am now again busy on friday nights,,tough to walk away completely.

I agree with beenhit2hard on Overlook's statements.  It sure is easy to expect perfection from the stands, especially when the team has for the most part been so perfect for the past 15+ years.  Think about the other schools who are just happy to make the playoffs and we are still talking about the one that got away 3+ years ago.  I am just grateful that we have been able to ride this wave for as long as we have and I hope that it keeps going for a few more years.

Now I hope I can bring some of the A-Town magic to the Crews Lake Middle School RAIDERS this year!

The last 3 posts are worthy of some kind of award for their honesty and openess.
I will admit that I am spoiled and delerious by the wave of success that MUC has enjoyed for so long. You former players earned the right to bitch about the games and you seem adverse to doing so. Thats pretty classy. Thank you End ofOverlook for the insiders perspective on the MHB game. That game always bothered me more than the playoff loss to Rowan at home. i can accept when the other team wins because they were better prepared. I just didnt think MHB WAS better prepared. I thought we might have taken them too lightly and paid the price for it late in the game. Thats a little harder to swallow. Ill bet few people have thanked you former players for the 13 wins leading up to that game. So heres mine....
Thanks for the memories of that season. The good ones WAAAAAYYYYY outnumber the bad.

I had to post something to drag us off the bottom of the boards.

Did everyone go on vacation or something?!?!?!

Camps are only a month or so away... surely there must be SOMETHING to discuss?

Besides, I need something to do at work to occupy my time.   :)

The_end_of_overlook

;D I was just abut to do the same thing. I too need something to do at work lol.

Hey all you MUC alumni...How about Pierre Garcon already being listed on the Colts depth chart at #3 receiver. That is fairly amazing with 13-14 WRs on the roster.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

He's #3 at one WR position behind Wayne and another.  That doesn't make him the #3 receiver.  And on ESPN.com he's listed as the third option behind Marvin Harrison which makes him more like the 5th or 6th WR on the roster.

NFL.com he's not listed at all.  Colts.com (the only depth chart that really matters) is completely blank.

I don't think I'd rate msn.com as the standing authority on NFL talent and depth.  I would say, while I am pulling for another OAC'er to make an NFL roster, that Pierre is most certainly behind Harrison, Wayne, Gonzalez, Aromashadu and Hall at the very least.

The only thing that matters is when they cut down to the 53 man roster (+ practice squad).  Hopefully he'll get some PT at the HOF game since it will be so close to his Alma Mater...

Totally agree.  I hope he makes it through that final cut and even if he plays on the practice squad, he is still getting in the mix and learning from some of the best in the NFL.  Both Jamal and Jason Trusnik started on practice squads and they both made it on the regular season rosters and got a taste of the NFL.

Good luck to Pierre.
