Small but Slow

Had our first conditioning practice tonight at the new middle school.  Attititude and Effort were great and we had 41 show up (school doesn't start till Monday) so that was pretty good.  LOTS of work to do on FB skills though!!!
Around 80 showed up for us on the south end of Little Rd.  Ditto on the effort and attitude.  Can't tell too much yet, but it appears that around 25-30 have some football ability.  After the rain today we may need to focus on our synchronized swimming skills.

Need a laugh today?

Read this:  Franklin College early pick in HCAC

What???
Now that's respect!  Not only is Mount picked to win the OAC, they're also picked second in the HCAC.  Has the jv team joined the Heartland?

What a travesty.  The Mount JV team would win the HCAC!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Looks like Marietta started recruicting in FL:

St. Pete Times

Bears foursome bound for Marietta

Former Central football standouts Chad Walker, Chase Walker, Jeff Wright and Heath Heroux will play in the fall at Division III Marietta (Ohio) College, Bears coach Cliff Lohrey confirmed.

Marietta returns 70 players from last season's 3-7 team. New coach Jeff Filkovski was quarterbacks coach at Cincinnati when it won the Conference USA title in 2002.

Wright, a two-way star for Lohrey, was a first-team defensive back on the Times' all-North Suncoast squad last season, when he returned four kicks or punts for touchdowns for the 6-4 Bears. Heroux was a second-team defensive back. Chase (quarterback) and Chad (receiver) Walker were Central's top passing tandem, earning all-North Suncoast honorable mention.

KD & SBS...

We had our first scrimmage Wednesday night, and I'll be darn if the kids didn't pick up the spread offense better than I ever expected!  We won 3-0 against a team that has handled us the last few years.  There is HOPE for these 6th & 7th graders!   ;D

On a Marietta note......I saw Seth Allman (North Canton kid who ended up starting at corner by the end of the season for Marietta last year) at a Hoover High School practice and he is not returning to Marietta.  The young man made a decision to become a Navy Seal.  He heads to basic in a few weeks.  I didn't ask him what made him decide such a radical change in his life, but just thanked him and wished him good luck.  He looked big and fast so I think he just might make a pretty darn good SEAL.

Preseason perditions

1.  Mount--shocking I know
2.  Cap--a healthy Assman gives them the edge over ONU
3.  ONU--unproven QB key players lost on D
4.  JCU
5.  Otters--Rafferty is the real deal
6.  Berg--I have heard the recruiting floodgates have opened.
7.  BW
8.  Etta
9.  Wilma
10. Fish

DadofBashWarrior..

I wish the best of luck to JCU and wide receiver Peter Spachner for an incredible season!!!

Hopefully, Etta's Florida recruits are more like Mount's than the Muskies'.

Would anyone know where to locate the MUCaw Bobblehead the Mount Union Bookstore was selling a while back. I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks.

Not sure if you MUC guys have already seen this or not but here is a quote from Peter King's MMQB column today:

"l. The Colts really like Pierre Garcon, who is not the waiter at the French place in downtown Indy. He's their Mount Union-draftee and speedy receiver/returner."

Looks like they are doing an autopsy to determine cause of death of 18 yr old Huntingdon College freshman Sam Collins.  What a tragedy.  From linked story below, they are reporting temp was 85 degrees with relative humidity of 68%.  (They don't say what field temp was.  I hope it wasn't old Astroturf.)  The players were wearing shorts, t-shirts, helmets, but no pads.
