Mount Union is NEVER boring. Amazing is the proper word. However,  from the opponents perspective MUC may be a little overwhelming....but not boring. Ask UWW, If you dare to play em, you just might elevate your own program and even beat em once in a while. ;) The only way to make MUC less "boring" would be to have them drop to the mediocre level. Is that what you want? All due respect to UWW, but MUC is the standard for D3 football. You have to rise to that standard to eliminate the boredom.

I think what he meant is reading the boxscores week in and week out is boring to him.  Not saying that I agree... but I think you misread what he had to say.  Of course seeing any football game in person would never be characterized as being boring.

As an avid MUC fan (but not an alumn), I have to honestly say that at times their games are boring.  Most games I am gone by half-time when they are blowing someone out (which in the regular season is almost every game).

However.......there is always that possibility of an ONU/JCU/CAP type game that leaves things in doubt at least a smidgen of the time.  As a generalization MUC fans are mostly in "preseason mode" during the regular season, prepping for the play-off run and another chance at the D-III title.  I know many on this board will totally disagree with my comments, but most on this board are the hardcore, alumnae type that eat/drink/sleep MUC football.

Looking at the OAC this year, I think CAP and ONU show the potential promise of being able to compete with Mount.  Time will tell as we need to see how all the new pieces/parts fit together for the Purple Raiders.  Didn't St. John Fisher get some new D-IA or AA QB transfer?

I will not get to catch the SJF game due to opening day for my 6th & 7th graders.  I will get to catch game 2 which is at night.  I will look forward to seeing some of you there.

By the way......Seventies......you can't even respond back to me with an email????  WTF.......I thought Magodore was the home of football champions???   ;D

For anyone who may be interested:  Jason Hall's Massillon Tigers took the field for their home opener last Friday wearing plain white helmets.  Coach Hall told them that there would be no makings on the hats untill they had "earned their stripes."

And since I'm on a roll...

I say we start the petition now to send Kenyon up and out of the NCAC for swimming so that they can finally measure themselves up against some real competition.  I mean 29 titles, these guys need to look into some independent meets.  I'm thinking a dual or tri meet maybe.  Something like Auburn, Stanford and Kenyon.

Or just have them barnstorm the country challenging Michael Phelps from town to town on the tour.   ;D

Sorry SS - I'm sure I sent you a long reply, however I may have had a Senior Moment and not sent it. What with Cross Country in full swing and trying to get a patio built before school starts I've been lost in the real world.

Side note to Reality Check: The young man who grew up across the street from me will be doing play by play for Northern this year: John Hartley. John has a great sense of humor and played football in Mogadore so I look forward to hearing him when I bounce around the internet on Saturdays.

I'm undergoing cervical spine surgery in October and will be in a full neck brace till December so this football season may be a total washout.

Pray for me-My daughter wants to go to Wilmington ???

Ouch- best of luck with that.  We'll be thinking of you here on the boards, hoping for a speedy recovery.  I'm assuming it wasn't your choice on when the surgery was performed given the timing.

Tragedy.  You are in our prayers  ;D
(this reaction reminds me of my father when I told him I preferred to go to Cap over BW)

If she's going to Wilmington,we should pray you hit the lottery.

Seventies hope your surgery goes well we will be pulling for a full recovery.  And look on the bright side she could make the football team or maybe that isn't so bright.

Seventies is going to have surgery on an area of the body where paralysis is a possibility if things dont go well....and he wants us to pray his daughter changes her mind about her college choice! I love it! :o :o Good luck there Seventies. I hope that the upmost confidence you have in your surgeon is warrented. I had back surgery once. If I were paralized, then maybe I wouldnt have had to co-sign for as much in student loans for my kids. ;D  Just my luck...everything went pretty well.

I saw Jason Halls debut in Tiger Stadium. Some of the plays were vaguely familiar. ;)  The execution wasnt MUC like....but one could see where hes trying to go with this team. It will be a challenge this year. The program listed only 2 players over 6 feet. The tallest being 6-2. And those programs are ALWAYS true! The schedule is no cakewalk. It will be Baptism by Fire for Jason. I still think he can pull off a winning season though.  Week 2 will be the Herbstreit Challenge. Key word there is CHALLENGE. Lets see how he handles it. :)

Seventies. I have been considering the same surgery. My thoughts and prayers are with you regarding the surgery and the daughter :)
