WTF does some nine year old pitcher have to do with D3 football?

When these kids grow up and enroll in d3 schools, their parents will be on these boards posting their opinion that Mount Union should move to another division. :'(

Now we know why there aren't any tough kids that come from CT!   ::)

For the record.....40 MPH for a 9 year old is NOT that fast.  That is "average fast" here in the North Canton LL for the 9-10 year old division (minors).  And by the way the mound is 46' in LL baseball.

I will be contributing my "sterling" picks as always for the pick-ems.  By the way.......since the NCAC guys seem to always do very well in our pickems due to their obvious superior intellect.....I am feeling completely inferior and feel that to protect my self-esteem we need to BAN them from our little competition.  I only want to compete against dumb OACers.......and gasp....state school graduates.

HSCOACH.......get that done or I am getting my "online league particpant attorney" involved.   ;D

I agree - not sure what all the fuss is about.  I'm guessing most Little Leagues have kids throwing this speed in the minors.

It appears that a few of you have seen some MUC practices and/or scrimmages.  My two main concerns for this year's team are the offensive line and the secondary.  Who are the projected starters at these positions and what/if any  game experience do they bring to the table?  I understand that Mount returns one defensive back starter (Ely) and none on the offensive line?

It doesn't surprise me this happens in CT after residing there for three years.  Just wait til this goes "Danny Almonte" and we find out Jericho is actually 24 years old with a 5 year old son himself.

I'm worried about the O-line too.  That's the entire key to this season.

At the intrasquad scrimmage last week, the guys I recognized running with the first team were Luke Summers (6'-4", 280 lbs from New Middletown), James Bird (6'-1", 265 lbs from Minerva), Caleb Crowl (6'-3", 295 lbs from Lisbon) and Samy Guerrero (6'-0", 245 lbs from Dublin Scioto).  There were a few other other guys rotating in too, but I didn't recognize them.  Mike Nitz (6'-1", 270 lbs from Copley) was reporteded to have switched to the O-line from DT, but I had no idea what his number would be.  He was #62 last year, but I didn't see a 62 with the first O-line, so I don't know if he's still there or not.

The only guys I recognized in the secondary was Evan Lamolinara, Drew McClain and Andrew Kirkman.  Overall, I'm not worried about the secondary.  Mount has plenty of athletes to fill the holes.

Defensively, I'm more worried about Yoder and Chaffin at LB than the secondary.

I won't make the scrimmage tomorrow night at W&J, so hopefully someone else will be making the trip and can update the above list.

How are Cards looking in scrimmages? Anyone new this year to watch out for?

jaypeter

I can't wait for another year of finishing towards the bottom of the pick 'em pile!  My pickems:  I'll have one week where I'm within a point of winning the week.  Other than that, I'll be lucky to see anyone listed after myself!

On a side note...living down here in North Carolina, it's going to be interested to see if there's a football team that can do something that MUC hasn't done yet.  Appalachain State is going for their 4th consecutive title this year in I-AA (or whatever it's called now).  I've warned too many people already around here just how hard it is to go "back 4 more."

No one cares...

Seriously, welcome Otter fan (as a Capital grad, you will always be an Otter to me!).  No one would know because you would be the FIRST and ONLY Otterbein fan on this board.  Hopefully you'll stick around longer than the representatives we have had from Marietta, Muskingum, BW, and Wilmington.  I'd add the Berg in there, but I don't know that we've ever had a Berg fan.

This is pretty much a Mount Union, Ohio Northern, Capital board.  with occasional posts from JCU.  Don't be intimidated... you'll take some crap, but don't take it too seriously.  You'll just have to come to grips with the fact that you are a middle of the pack team and that's what most of the rest of us expect.  If you tell us how GREAT Otterbein is going to be, like the Marietta fans tried to, we're not going to buy it.  We understand if you have enthusiasm for your team, but the Otters have shown promise for a few years and failed to deliver on those expectations.  Most of us either played in the OAC or have followed it for a very long time (or both), so don't try to feed us crap and don't get discouraged.  Join in to existing conversations and add some solid info, and you will be a respected member of the board in no time (not sure if I even meet that provisio).  Just don't think that people are going to want to talk about Otterbein and don't think every conversation you have should be about them.  You won't get a lot of feedback, and you'll get run off in a hurry.

So, that being said, welcome...
Hope you stick...  It'll be nice to nice to have someone here to take jabs at just because our schools are rivals.

So, it is the 8th day of school down here in FL (We already had one Hurricane Day last week) and I am showing my first video in class of the year.

Gives me time to get other work done in class.

Rumor has it they're indeed fielding a team this year and that they play Bethany this weekend.  God help them if they don't beat a team that sounds like it was named after a nine year old girl scout.  That's as deep  as the insight gets for Otterbein.

Welcome aboard.  There have been a few fly-by's for Otterbein fans in the past but noone stuck long enough for anyone here to remember.  I do know this about Otterbein though; the Cards are arguably the top producer of Arena League talent with the likes of Ricardo Lenhart (1177 yards and 17 TD's with Louisville), Michaeux Robinson (13 INT's and 4 TD's for Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pioneers) and Matt D'Orazio (reigning Arena Bowl MVP and two-time Arena Bowl champ).

I think the answer to this questions requires way too much work but does anyone recall a time when not one single OAC team opened against an NCAC school?  I can't remember a year until now where at least one NCAC and one OAC school didn't play one another.

CAP/Witt, COW/JCU, Gheny/BW, etc.
