I appreciate all of the research.......actually, not as bad as I thought.  However, I still wouldn't want to meet any of them in a dark alley.

Boy, you can sure tell it's an off-week in the OAC.....with the exception of ONU--Go Polar Bears!

It's also tough because I'm not the type to go drum up trouble on the CCIW board and so far noone from North Central seems to be flinging any mud over here.

I expect to see a more balanced attack Saturday as the receiving corps should have more athleticism this year and the young kids who struggled last year now feel comfortable in the system.  Simmons showed enough as a freshman to get me excited but he may have a breakout campaign this season.  If the passing game develops it will allow Meadows more freedom as the defense won't be keying on him and him alone.

Defensively, the Bears should be strong up front and in the backfield with a very capable but slightly green linebacking group.

It's always tough to open on the road against an unfamiliar opponent but I have my hopes high that ONU leaves Naperville in good spirits.  This game really does set the tone early for the Polar Bears season.

Even though rain is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday, the NCC stadium has Field Turf so you'll be hard pressed to find mud to fling.  ;)

NCC has lost to the OAC in playoff games in 2005 and 2006. They are very respectful of ONU. They have treated the season opener as the first playoff game of 2008, in terms of high rankings and potential seedings for the playoffs at the end of the year. This should be a fantastic game.

Reality:

re:  ONU Prediction

Behind Meadows and Tyrone Wheatley (dressed as a back up RB from Naptown) the Polar Bears win big.  Meadows runs for 120 yards and Wheatley capitalizes on his potential, running for 190 yards and 4 TD's.  ONU, as a result, holds the ball for 43 minutes and wins without North Central's offense getting on the field in 2nd half (onside kick recovery, "sky" kick recovery, and a 89 yard Kickoff return for TD by NC)... final score 63-7.

Well let's see here it is the open weekend for Mt.   No one to play esp. in this area.  just so happens that coach mike in Wooster has an open date this weekend.   Maybe Mike and Larry could go out to breakfast. Maybe if Larry promised not to "kick his butt" they could arrange a friendly game of flag football.  Maybe

Predictions on the Buckeye's trip into SoCal??  I haven't heard this much negativity coming out of Columbus since John Cooper was doing Big Bear commercials......

without Wells it will be ugly out here in SoCal, 42-14 SC
with Wells, slightly less ugly 35-17 SC

The Bucks need some early turnovers to go their way and take advantage of the resulting sudden change...before USC's defense settles in.

I'm with Purple Suit... but I don't think Wells will play...and if he does, its going to be like it was at a couple different points last season.... "carry the football, limp off.  carry the football, limp off"

I thought they had a decent chance to be competitive with a healthy Wells, with a 10-20% chance at actually winning.  But without Beanie carrying the ball 30+ times, they have zero chance.

It really pains me to think this way, but I think it's going to get ugly.

USC 38
OSU 13

As a result, we've cancelled our little party for Saturday night.  No sense having multiple people around watching each other cry over the Bucks getting drilled on national TV. >:(

HS Coach's proclivity for spread picking does not give me much hope for the Buckeyes, however, I think the Buckeye defense is stronger than 38 points....at least I hope it is...I sure hope to enjoy the game.
the only thing worse than a Buckeye poor showing would be the Raiders losing to B-freaking-W....Course the Jacks giving up 42 in their opener bodes very very well for Michelli. Kmic, and Shorts...
