I am currently sitting in the West Pasco Judicial Center waiting for jury duty.

That's much better than sitting there awaiting trial.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I was supposed to have Jury duty today, I checked online and my group was told to stay away for today, gotta check again for tomorrow.

I have been sitting here since 8:00am and still nothing.  No wonder the courts are always so backed up.  If any business ran this way they wouldn't be in business.

Did anyone watch the BW/JCU game?  Those all yellow unis the Jackets were sporting gave me a headache for the rest of the weekend.

Nice win for the Crusaders this week.  I was a little nervous going into the game, but both sides of the ball played very well.

Interesting match up this weekend.....ONU vs. the Otters.  The Otters seem to be playing very well and who would of thought ONU could start the season 0-3.  This is a huge game for both programs.  The Otters can make a huge statement with a win on Sat.

While I think the Ott./ONU game will be the most interesting this weekend, it will do the Polar Bears good to return to the "friendly confines" of Ada.  I believe their first two games were on the road, and if they lose a third game, all thoughts of the playoffs are out the window.  Sometimes teams play better with a sense of desperation and urgency.

What are the chances, I'm on jury duty this week in Akron. I'm back home already.

Just wonder what the sub is doing to my classroom

Micheli's two inc's included one drop after a good hit by db, and one throw-away on a scramble.....word from the pressbox is that RJ Meadows is so banged up that he does not even practice much....I was impressed with young ONU QB composure...I think he will be a very good one. He threw three step drops very well.....his one bomb was a floater, but was on target...Also, back up RB,  #31 I believe, will be a stud in the future....D-line is young and strong

Also, looking at the roster, ONU is fairly young and I look for them to be very very good next year.....

The bigger question is:  "What are the kids doing to the sub.?"

Still here.  Day so far:

8:00-10:30  waste time surfing the internet in the Jury Pool Room
10:30-12:15  waste time in the courtroom while judge goes on and on just to hear himself talk.  Rumplestiltskin was sitting next to me in jury row sleeping.  Looks like a white-wanna-be-rapper.
12:15-1:30  lunch at Taco Hell.  I had two Volcano Tacos, hopefully I can drop some bombs on  Rumplestiltskin.

Right now I am 1 of 24 that is about to be questioned by the lawyers for jury selection.  They are selecting 6 + 1 alternate so about 29% chance I get picked.

What are the odds I make it to FB practice by 3:10pm?

This trial is expected to last till Thursday and I sure as heck hope I don't get picked.  I am thinking about going all mental or something during the jury selection.  LOL

Just look blankly over the lawyer's head and never make eye contact. If he asks if you have any predjudice against his client, say "no, but I don't much care for you".  Guaranteed, you'll make practice all week.

I served (got stuck on) a federal district jury in Columbus on a tax evasion case that lasted the better half of a season in 1992.  The trial was dragged out because the defense kept stalling by asking for afternoon recess to evaluate testimony given during the morning sessions.  This did give me an opportunity to drive home for practice, turn in new sub plans, and collect work to grade.  The testimony in that case was as dry as you can possibly imagine; page after page of tax and financial data.  The only things that kept me awake was a couple of extremely attractive paralegals and the defendant's incredible daughter.

Small but Slow

I also came too close to being seated for a murder trial in Pinellas County.  I was one of approximately in the court room when the defense attorney asked if anyone would be prejudiced by the prosecution's mention of the accused violent past.  32 of us raised our hands so they had to go deeper in the jury pool to fill that jury.  I really lucked out on that one.  The trial lasted nearly three months and the jury was sequestered for the final two and a half weeks.

One surefire way to avoid jury duty is to be a coach and/or school administrator.....you move every 3-5 years and they can't keep up with the "current" address.
