I just recalled how impressed a lot of us were with the size and the spirit of the ONU faithful that showed up in Alliance. Nice and loud and well behaved bunch. Y'all come back again soon. Ya'hear.

End of Jury Duty:

So, today is the last day of the trial.  Defense puts their "Expert" Accident Reconstructionist on the stand and then Plaintiffs attorney tries to discredit his entire testimony.  Plaintiff's Attorney has the worst non-verbal communications.  He acts like a spoiled brat.

Anyway, judge tells us to break for lunch at 12:30 and to be back by 1:45.  I stay at courthouse and eat at their cafeteria and surf the internet.  Baliff finally comes to get us at 3:45pm.  Lawyers and Judge spent 2+ hours going over the Jury Instructions that have to be typed and given to us.

Closing statements are given by Plaintiff and Defense Attorneys then jury goes in to deliberate...except for me.  I AM the alternate and since none of the other jurors had any issues, I don't even get to hear the deliberations.  I am excused at 5:00pm to go home.  Three days of my life wasted...

I was fairly well disappointed.  I at least wanted to hear the jury deliberations...

kirasdad,

Thats our "justice" system at its finest.  Unbelieveable.  Just be glad you didn't have to do that in Hamilton County (Cincinnati)... its all a game..  government waste at its finest.

Congrats on being done with that crap.

I have a different take on the Jury duty than the many of you who are commenting on here.  I see it as my civic duty.  Yeah, it can be a pain in the a$$, but I'd rather be a part of a system that includes a jury of citizens that a system where the decisions are made by gov't employees who keep therir jobs only if they are successful at putting people away.

I am proud to serve when called--even if the case seems a little wishy-washy.  I'd rather some stupid cases get heard than have the whole country turn into Guantanamo.

Well said. That is the way it should be.

I just had jury duty also and got myself dismissed, I could not afford to miss three weeks of work.  The state of NJ only pays 5.00 a day for the first three days and 40.00 a day after that for jury duty.  The 5.00 dollars a day barely paid for my train tickets for two days.  I would have loved to sat on a murder trial jury which is what the trial I got dismissed from was.

It would be shocking if Wooster didn't back out.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

As long as I'm the one playing God in the Guantanamo scenario, I'm cool with it......

I can now be all high and mighty about my  jury "service", which was sitting in a jury room with 29 other people waiting to be interviewed for four hours, only to be released because the defendant plead out. 8)

This is the trial I could have been on the jury for.  Too bad I didn't have three weeks to spare.

For those deep purple people who never see the JVs play, let me tell you what. Real talent. The wide receivers are big, fast and have moves. The backs are good and the quarterbacks are super prospects. The kickoff guy blasted two out of the end zone! On defense,we've seen real fine line and linebacker play. There are some stars coming and ,not to exaggerate, a few of these guys would be starting at some OAC schools.

HS Coach    Don't get me started on Wooster again and their how to build a winning football team philosophy. Also good to hear about our future Raiders.   Seventies had me worried.

I don't mind serving on the jury.  I originally was supposed to serve in July, but their computer had a glitch and thus I had to take time away from my classroom.  Can't let my students on the computers when they have a substitute so they did seat work for three days.  Then that ended up being a waste of time because of me being an alternate that wasn't used.  I'll perform my civic duty but I wish that it mattered that I was actually there.
