... I have concluded that I am better suited to have smart but less athletic/physical kid at center.....

Hey wait a minute!  I was a center and take exception to that.

Uh, never mind.  You're spot on.

I was a center too.  I guess it further proves the point, although the "smart" part... maybe not.

Also shouldn't McConagha Stadium be more correctly called McConagha Field. It's throwing the term stadium around rather loosely, sort of like old Hiram.

LOL!  ;D

Pray tell, what do you believe the difference to be, seventies?
About a million dollars and a commitment to athletics. However, on the plus side McConagha "Field" much like Hiram offers a beautiful view when the game gets hard to watch. ::)

PS I don't know if Hiram is still single sided. I haven't been there since the Puppies "moved up" to the NCAC. As I recall that last meeting, they locked us out of the locker room at half time so the team just lounged on the hillside. The game was over for all purposes other than statistics.

Go Raiders, Beat the Fishies

Bernlohr is single sided... stadium or field?

Bernlohr-Commitment to athletics? CHECK
               Investment in Facilities?   CHECK
View from Stands?           Irrelevant. The games are worth watching

Dark days in Ada...

OTT vs. CAP might be a great cross-town clash this year.

OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

Being able to follow OAC games via the live stat platforms has been awesome over the last couple years but it seems there's a lot of work left to be done to make these stat tracking platforms operational.  MUC's seems to be inoperable more often than not, JCU's says it works for home games only but it isn't updating on my screen either and reads all zeroes.  And JCU apparently is looking to charge listeners to listen to live football webcasts which seems like a total sham in my opinion.

CAP wins 48-28 over WIL.  Assman throws for 400+ yards.
OTT wins 37-7 over ONU.  ONU less than 200 yards TO.
JCU/BERG was tight but I can't find anything on either school's site to update.

JCU won by 2 or 3 I heard

MUC won 51-13 over Muskies

^ Micheli threw for like 4 or 5 TD's, Kmic had close to 200 yrds.

Otterbein appears to be quite a juggernut and Ott vs. Cap and Ott vs MUC could be battles.

Does anyone have any insight about Ohio Northern this year?   I really thought they would be the #2 or #3 team in the OAC.  This has to be quite a disappointment to Coach Paul.

WOW, i would like to know what has happened to ONU as well, i know their first 2 games were very tough draws to come out of the gates with, but coming home should have made some difference this week!.............NOT!..... OUCH! Otterbein is starting to make a blip on the C-bus radar, as opposed to sneaking under it!  :o
I thought the Berg/JCU game would have alot more points than that, was it a volleyball score posted or what?

I am not a fan of misinformation, which of course rarely happens on these boards, but let me correct something Reality Check posted.

JCU is NOT charging people to LISTEN to webcasts. JCU is charging to WATCH the webcasts. These are video webcasts that a subscription is being used to cover the costs. Not sure if you have looked into the cost of doing a single event video webcast, but if you do more than a few, it gets to the point where a school would have a tough time "eating the cost" just so its fans can watch for free. Unless of course there is a willing sponsor ... but that's another story in and of itself. You have to pay for bandwidth on servers, and it gets more expensive the more hits you get.

As for live stats, its still a hit and miss operation. Things outside the control of those trying to run the stats can happen, and there is not much that can be done mid-game to correct them. As the technology improves and schools can adapt to the growing demand, it will get better, so be patient.

Just thought I'd clear the air on thise topics.

Thanks for the clarification on the webcasts.  Although it would certainly be helpful if the site navigated in a way that someone who didn't know could understand that.  JCUSports has a link at the right that states "Follow the games live  -- webcasts".  Nowhere on that frontpage or the webcast page does it differentiate between video and audio.  In fact, when you click the webcast button, the next page explains nothing about video or audio at all; just a list of pricing packages.  It says the next game versus ONU costs $5.95.  After further review, I've yet to figure out where one can go on the athletics site at JCU to access audio of any kind.  It's linked on the schedule page, there's no radio station link on the frontpage, nothing.  I'm guessing you have to access JCU's radio station page on the jcu.edu domain and work from there.

What information are you looking for.  ONU has been anemic on offense and the defense has been average through three contests.  It's disappointing yes but there's no secrets as to what's going on.  Simmons will be a good quarterback, Meadows hasn't been able to achieve the success he had early in his career at ONU, the lack of a go-to receiver is apparent.  ONU has recruited well for the last few years but the rectuiting process hasn't translated as well as expected.  Defensively, ONU is still a solid unit.  If you want a reason to hang your hat on as to why they've struggled offensively, I'd say it comes down to a young offense and a lack of a leader/playmaker.  Meadows has always been a grinder and maybe ONU is missing that game-breaker they've had on the roster for so long (ie. Jamal, Vagedes, Franzer, Weber).

And ultimately, OTT might be the second or third best team in the OAC when everything plays out but it's just too early to tell.  Through three games though, the Cardinals have shown lots of balance on offense with a solid running game, a very good QB and a go-to receiver.

Dark days indeed.  I know Mount was "up" to play against ONU and probably a little "flat" today against Muskingum, but there wasn't that much difference in how ONU and Musky looked against the Raiders.   Musky did a pretty good job on Kmic and pressured Micheli reasonably well.  ONU had more speed in the secondary than Musky, but I expected ONU to really test the Raiders and Musky to be, well, Musky.  But that wasn't the case in either game.

In my less than humble opinion, ONU is in deep trouble this season.  Heidelberg, BW and JCU will be real battles and it's not out of the real of possibility unless the Bears find some offense that they could be looking at a losing record?  Amazing. >:(

RC,
Thanks for your reply.   I just thought they had a lot more returning this year.  I didn't think Meadows posed much of a threat against Mount (although they did an excellent job containing Kmic).  I thought they should have won against Otterbein especially at home---it was a shock to see that big of a loss.

I think MUC switched the program they use (for lack of a better term).  They used to use the one ONU uses which seems to always work.  I've had trouble with the new one.

Don't know if anyone went to or watched the JCU/Heid game on STO, but there was really no difference there.  Heidelberg was every bit as good as JCU.  The Princes lost 17-15 when they failed on a 2 pt conversion attempt.  But they fumbled a punt and JCU recovered on the HC 7 setting up a TD to go up 10-6 at the time, so they played very well.  A bad snap/hold on Berg's 1st TD came back to haunt them too.  Both D's looked very solid.  I know there are no moral victories, but going on the road to JCU and going blow for blow with them is a great sign for the Berg in my mind.  Good for them and good for the OAC.

Berg - JCU score to close out SportCenter at midnight.

Every little bit helps!
