If you are "jones'ing" for OAC football later this week. STO is replaying the JCU-Heidelberg game sometime in the middle of the night Tuesday. Got my Tivo set. Now if I could just get the clock on my VCR to stop flashing ;D

You still have a VCR?

Wow  ;D

From VCR to TiVo...did you miss the DVD era?  ???

I teach in a public school. We get excited about push button phones.

BTW Kirasdad brought up the sand under BW's "turf". Has anyone watched a game from Indianopolis's new stadium and the clouds of black groundup tire dust that comes up with every tackle. Actually with every step.

Whats up with the Steelers "new look?" They could be giving BWC a run for the ugly uni's title.

Mount's turf did that the first couple of seasons.  They "fill" the field with shredded rubber as part of the newer FieldTurf/AstroPlay surfaces.

I kind of like the Steeler's new look.  I like the Plain Uni's without all the new fangled stripes and swooshes.

I think it was throwback uniform week.  The Jets wore the god awful NY Titans uniforms on Sunday and I saw a couple of other teams in throwback uniforms.

"In the end we will survive rather than perish not because we accumulate comfort and luxury but because we accumulate wisdom"  Colonel Jack Jacobs US Army (Ret).

reality check

The jerseys the Steelers donned on MNF was a throwback jersey they wore twice last year as well.  It's supposed to be from the early 60's when the Steelers used to wear the yellow helmet with the Steeler logo on one side.  They're not new by any means, just another merchandising gimmick so the NFL can sell another "alternate" jersey to all the hardcore fans.

And regarding the rubber chunks in the field turf, I know that when it first came out that was touted as one of the great advantages of the field turf was that the pellets would give a good indication of whether or not players got the feet in bounds and whatnot for replay purposes.  These artificial turf companies are expected to come back to their installed fields a couple years later to spray more of the little pellets as they slowly dissipate over time.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

^^^^ That's great news for us down here in C-bus.  I wonder if they would broadcast home playoff games?  Guess I shouldn't get greedy.

BW week at MUC was a tradition born of defeat. The Raiders just couldn't beat them and the turf freaked everyone out. It seemed to take a quarter and a half to get used to running on the stuff. You seemed to bounce. It was a two touchdown advantage. Plus, they had very good players and a version of the spread offense that relied heavily on the short pass. Finally in the 80s the Raiders started to break through, playing them close and with confidence. I think the 1993 game, and the loss in 1994,set the stage. It remains a special rivalry. BW fans have seen several great Mount Union quarterbacks visit their stadium, and the guy under center Saturday is playing as well as any of them.

One of my sprinters who also plays football for Mogadore had a career night last Friday, scoring on both a 71 yard interception return and a 23 yard run. As a result he has been nominated for the US Army Ohio Ironman of the week award which honors outstanding high school players who play both ways. I truely think that he deserving so if you have a minute and want to help me honor Mr McAvinew.. 8)

WoW!  Bonus!

Thanks for the heads-up, Coach.  After a shrewd negotiating session with DirectTV, they gave me a $10.00 discount on the SportsPackage (with STO) for the next 3 months.  Since it costs me $9.00 a month, I will get paid $1.00 per month to watch MUC football.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Mom!

Congratulations!  But as one-sided as those games can be, I'm holding out for $10 a month! ;D
