I certainly understand why a few voters keep WWW No.1. They beat us in the championship game, are the defending champions, and  deserve to be No.1 until they are eliminated from the playoffs. They didn't just win the game, they beat us.

My comment was not tongue n cheek as one poster implied.  I'm serious.  I don't believe someone needs to be kept at #1 based upon last year's performance.  I believe last year's poll should be about what you did last year.

Let's talk about this year.  Mount has defeated 2 top 10 teams and 1 top 25 team...convincingly.  Compared to WW doing what???  Getting by?

Now I see Mount is only receiving 31 of a possible 40 first place votes to remain number one in this week's AFCA Division III Coaches' Poll.  (77%)???

I guess what I'm asking is that...Does nearly 25% of voting experts currently believe that this year's WW team is better than MUC???

Sorry to sound like a homer but let's get serious for a moment can we?  If the teams face each other in the playoffs LK is going to press the gas pedal down all the way to the floor.

No sure what you are complaining about OU, you have the #1 ranking in the country and deservedly so. Whitewater did win the stagg bowl last year, but lost a ton of talent through graduation, while MUC still has a number of key players from last year. Not to mentioned the talent MUC has to replace legends like Garcon and Blanchard. So I have no problem with MUC being #1, but to be complaining about not receiving all the votes, come on! do you think MUC won't get a fair chance at another national title this year or something b/c they don't receive 100% of the first-place votes? unlikely.

you're right about Whitewater "getting by" in some games, they haven't been blowing everyone out like MUC has done this year. But Whitewater plays in a tougher confence (not by much though) and there aren't as many cupcake teams in the WIAC, and I think voters take that into consideration when voting.

I might actaully agree with you that MUC has a much superior team than whitewater this year, and if played this week MUC will probably win. However, around this time last year, who in this room gave UWW a chance to beat MUC. I know didn't, and i'm one of the biggerst Warhawk supporters there are. but we all know how the Stagg Bowl turned out.

Good luck to you this year, and hopefully we can meet again in Salem!

Even with the playoff, we still argue about "rankings".........What I love about D-III is that we have a playoff system that crowns a true champion.  I am as big as fan as anyone of Mount, but they didn't get it done in last year's Stagg.  If they would have played an inferior opponent due to a BCS bowl "matchup", they would have won and been crowned "poll champions".  Whitewater won the championship last year, and NO ONE can argue about the legitimacy of the title.  Forget the polls, and worry about seeding--it's what matters.

well said! DIII does it right with a playoff format. None of this crap will bowl games and sh!t. this way no one can put the blame anyone but themselves when they lose. instead blaming the voters and stupid formulas like DI has to determine its champion.

If you had to vote for POY today, which MUC player would be most worthy of the vote? Micheli has proven that he is human...he has ONE int for the season....and Kmic HAS fumbled this year......but how can you say one playing is better than the other? Kmic is gonna lap THE BEAV in a week or two. That is a factor. Micheli may rewrite the stats book for QB rating for a season. and possibly lead his team back to the Stagg Bowl again. Or, is Cecil Shorts gonna ultimately decide these guys fate himself? What a ponderous perdicament! Maybe Pat can give us some insight as to who else might be in consideration. I would be surprised if one of these players are not finalists.

RUN NATE RUN     RUN OVER THAT BEAVER! ;)

And, I think that Mr. Shorts III would take the interception as a "my bad" for a dropped/deflected pass.  Maybe Micheli isn't human after all......

My son is a friend of Cecil's through track. He's done a great job at receiver but he was always a QB. Will Cecil be the QB next season?

Mount Union and Mount Union football have arrived. They have not one but two Mount Union T-Shirts at Steve and Barry's.

Which Steve and Barry's? The one by me (North Olmsted) is closing and never had any Mount shirts.

Akron - Chapel Hill And they are all 5.98. I thought the guy was humoring me when he said we have more Mount Union shirts down the aisle, but they did. ;D

The good news out of a really bad season in cross country is that my boys finish their season at the D3 District at Malone at 11:00 Saturday, which leaves plenty of time to head straight down Route 62 to watch Coach Mike and Heidelberg take on the Raiders. Certainly the highlight of a weekend that will end with my surgeon craving through my throat to remove two vertebrae and replace it with pieces of my pelvus first thing Monday morning. Cheers

My wife is excited about me not being able to talk for two weeks. I won't even get to say, "Yes Dear."

Best wishes Seventies--hope your surgery goes well.

I hope to see you at the game--I will be in my regular spot in section 2--I assume you will be by the fence, as usual?

I hope to catch up with Mike a little, but i know he will be busy.  I'm a Berg alumn so I may hang out on that side for a while to see if I recognize anyone.

It was reported earlier in the year that Heller had serious grade issues at Waynesburg and may not play there at all.  Doesnt sound like the type that LK prefers. I will believe it when it happens. It was also mentioned that he was looking at D2 schools. Maybe they took a pass also. Did he play in any games for Waynesburg this year? If so how did he do?

JK

Seventies,

In case I forget later in the week, best of luck to you, my friend.  Enjoy your last game for a while.  Hopefully you get a glorious afternoon and a great game!  You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

BTW, it's pretty clear you don't teach Anatomy.  Its pelvis, not pelvus.   ;)

Last year Heller established an NCAA freshman rushing record with 2,176 yards.  This season he has been hampered with a high ankle sprain and apparently many of the Waynesburg University fans think he is dogging it and Heller has reacted to say he is contemplating leaving Waynesburg University.  It is reported that he is considering transferring to Mount or Pitt.  A link on this is as follows:
