A few observations from Wilma today:

1.  The Wilma defense is absolutely horrible.  Maybe one of the worst I've EVER seen.

2.  LK better have one of the freshmen QB's ready for next year because Kurt Rocco is not the answer.

Congrats to Otterbein on the big win.  Dispose of Etta and we'll see you soon ;D

Can we PLEASE put Mount Union in the Big 10 where they belong! ;D

With their high powered offense, they would still run the table and have an undefeated record in the conference! :o

1. Illinois
2. Indiana
3. Iowa
4. Purdue
5. Michigan
6. Michigan St
7. Ohio State
8. Penn St.
9 Wisconsin
10. Minnesota
11. Northwestern
12. Mount Union

Looks good to me, I think they can do it! Maybe we need to send a petition to LK & see what it takes to make this dream a REALITY!
I'm sure the teams in the OAC can appreciate facing an opponent that's not ahead by 50 @ the half!  ;)

Adrian

Many of us would appreciate it in the OAC if you just left this argument alone.

You don't know how hard it was to listen to the end of the JCU v Heidelberg game, trying to turn my head with this plastic collar so my ears could get close to the crappy speakers on my laptop.

Seventies

The collar might be rough but the meds must be working.  Heidelberg played BW.  ONU played JCU.  ;)

reality check ... how do you know my name?
Are you the FBI or the CIA reality check?
As long as you are not the IRS reality check!  ;D

In the words of the fabled SNL character, Miss Emily Latella, "Oh, that's quite different, never mind" ;D

I did mean all the stuff about Coach Mike, but the happy pills swapped Cleveland colleges I'm equally glad lost today.   8)

I don't think you should be yelling at all, seventies  ;D

If you gave LK the talent the sweater vest has he would win in the big ten.   Probably could beat PSU.

Cap loses big... 38-9

Per my arrangement earlier in the week, I changed the saying at the bottom of my profile, but I can't figure out the picture thing, and honestly don't have the patience or the desire to do it right now.

Cap has to figure something out quick.  The offense has to do SOMETHING.

I agree reality, go Bucks.  That would make my day a little better.

Glad to see you can take it like a man--it's been a tough couple of weeks for you--first nine turnovers and then this loss--Oh well, it's only for thirty days!
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Hasn't been a good football weekend for me...

Marlington beats West Branch for the first time in 21 years.

Otterbein beats Capital

PSU beats the Buckeyes

My last remaining hope for the weekend is the Steelers, but they will have their hands full with the Giants.

I can only hope that the football gods don't deal me an 0-4 weekend.  Been a very long time since that has happened.

To add to that list MHB and WWW go down.  Interesting.
Hey hscoach, what did Rocco do? I went to th Mass/McK game instead. The stat that sticks out to me...Kmic held to 94 yrds on 14 carries?  HUH?

Any rumbles of a bus to Westerville? Pretty sure I'm not getting my car keys back by then. Not even sure if I can go, but I think we have Friday nights throughout the HS playoffs, so that shouldn't matter.

Two things...

I watched the STO replay of the Berg/BW game and I watched that 4th down sneak at least a dozen times.  I still can't figure it out.  From the angle right on the goal line I could only see Gardner lunge with the ball outstretched, but there was a mass of humanity in the way so I never even saw the ball come out.  From the "normal" angle I saw the ball come out, but it looked like his initial lunge broke the plain.  Either way, not a call I would want to make.

The Cap/Bein game got an actual game story in the Dispatch today!!  With a picture!!  I almost passed out from shock.  In the article it mentioned Assman is out for the season with a neck injury.  Kid's had some tough luck.  Hope he's OK.

Rocco didn't do anything specific on yesterday for me to say something.  It's just that I finally got annoyed enough to say it.  His vision of the field resembles a scared 18 year old true freshman, not a 3rd year junior.   He continues to stare down the primary receiver and throws it to him 90% of the time regardless if the receiver is open or not.  Might as well go max protection and send out only 1 receiver because that's all he's going to look at anyway.

I know it's only mop-up duty at the end of games that he is getting, but over the last 15 years we've seen enough young QB's play in that role to get a good comparison of him to others.  I can't think of one young back-up that turned out to be a good starter that didn't look great playing in mop-up duty at the end of games.  Bruney, Adamson, and Micheli all displayed significant potential when they got on the field as youngsters.

Bruney and Micheli both made plays with their athleticism that made you think if they could ever learn to throw they'd be dangerous.  While Adamson simply stood in the pocket and threw rockets.  I can specifically remember Adamson as a sophomore throwing a 50+ yard bomb late in the game against Heidelberg (1999?) that made me say "wow".  Each of these guys showed flashes of talent in their limited duty that made you believe they would someday become The Man.

Watching Rocco last year made me assume Shorts would split time this season at WR and QB and then take over in '09 for Micheli.  Now with Cecil's shift to a full-time WR, it makes me hope for a stud QB to be waiting in the wings on the JV team.  Though I doubt it because I haven't seen a freshman QB with strong enough arm to play next year.

In regards to Kmic, Wilma didn't shut him down.  For whatever reason LK didn't feed him the ball much as he only had 14 carries.  He did have a 60+ yard TD run called back due to holding that cost him a bunch of yards.  If there was ever any thought that LK would run Kmic more than usual to get him the rushing record, yesterday was a clear indication that LK isn't thinking that way.  Kmic could have had 200+ yards at halftime if Mount would have simply pounded the ball on the ground.

The Wilma defense was just horrible.  Micheli's 60 yard TD run was simply zero pursuit and effort from Wilma as Greg looked a couple times like he was getting ready to hook slide, but no defender ever got within 2 yards of him the entire run.

It was very weird.  The Wilma defense looked like a high school JV team going against the varsity in practice where the sophomores are afraid to actually stick their nose into the line of scrimmage for fear of getting killed by the seniors.   Wilmington has some nice athletes at WR, but Coach Wolf might want to consider playing some athletes on defense in the secondary sometime too.......

Seventies, the alumni office is sponsoring a bus to Otterbein.  I believe the cost is $50.00 for the ride.  You have to purchase your game ticket separately.
Check with Anne or Tiffany in the Alumni office for details.  Hope you are starting to feel better.  Hang in there.
