The vicoden is working......

and I was really focusing hard on "suma cum laude" for fear the PBK  boys from the NCAC might venture over here   ;)

Thanks to my rehab I get to see things like the ESPN U High School Game of the Week announced by non other than Rowan's former super Transfer Gus Ornstein.  Never realized that after his Rowan career he transferred to Michigan State and graduated (corrected) Suma Cum Laude. One name I never expected to hear again.

Maybe this was common knowledge, but I seldom have time to watch whole games from other states.

""After his freshman year at Notre Dame, ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper was quoted as saying, "whenever Gus Ornstein chooses to come out of college he will be the first player selected in the NFL draft.""

Pretty amazing story for the guy.

Desertraider, I feel honored to be included in that group!  :)

It is well deserved. I know I left out a few (RC is one that comes to mind now) but I hope they don't feel slighted.

I felt so slighted but I managed to make it through the last couple days...
;D

Here's what I've found regarding winning percentages.  Kinda random and I'm bouncing around but hey:

Notre Dame's record since 1887 is 826-278-42 or 73.9%
Since 1980: 219-113-5 or 66%
Since 1962: 360-152-8 or 70.3%

STJ (Gags) record since Gags came to town in '53: 429-116-10 or 78.7%
Since 1980: 246-57-4 or 81.2%
Since 1962: 371-93-8 or 80%

Penn State record since 1887 is 781-343-43 or 68%
Since 1980: 241-96-2 or 71.5%
Since 1962: 399-139-3 or 74.1%
JoePA overall: 372-125-3 or 74.8%

OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

And for kicks, Ohio State, Michigan and Nebraska:

Since 1890: 805-304-53 or 71.5%
Since 1980: 261-85-5 or 75.4%
Since 1962: 403-124-9 or 76.5%

Jim Tressel is already the third winningest coach in OSU history since just 2001.

Michigan since 1879: 871-287-36 or 75.2%
Since 1980: 256-82-5 or 75.7%
Since 1962: 396-173-12 or 69.6%

Nebraska since 1890: 808-334-40 or 70.8%
Since 1980: 279-72-3 or 79.5%
Since 1962: 475-110-8 or 81.2%

Nebraska's info says only 4 programs in Division I have 800 wins since program inception.  So we have stats on those four plus FSU from the DI ranks.

RC Thanks for doing Nebraska, because I was just getting ready to do it myself. I knew that the post 1960 numbers would be impressive through the Devaney and Osborne years. They have only suffered in the past ten years or so. I may be a Purple Raider Alum, but I grew up a Cornhusker

Can we PLEASE put Mount Union in the Big 10 where they belong! ;D

With their high powered offense, they would still run the table and have an undefeated record in the conference! :o

1. Illinois
2. Indiana
3. Iowa
4. Purdue
5. Michigan
6. Michigan St
7. Ohio State
8. Penn St.
9 Wisconsin
10. Minnesota
11. Northwestern
12. Mount Union

Looks good to me, I think they can do it! Maybe we need to send a petition to LK & see what it takes to make this dream a REALITY!
I'm sure the teams in the OAC can appreciate facing an opponent that's not ahead by 50 @ the half!  ;)
I wonder what Mount Union's winning percentage would be if they played in the Big 10? ???

While it has long been proven that I'm easily amused, and I don't go on Mount Union Athletic's web page all that often, but the lastest addition, a toolbar of sorts with all the results for all the sports for the whole year and one click links to the article or information on the event, is so slick that I've created this enormous run-on sentence to describe what you could have seen for yourself by clicking: HERE   Whew!!

BTW: If Mount Union were in the Big Ten+One, wouldn't they get their pick of DI bottom feeders for warmups? Louisiana-Lafayette, Alcorn State, Prairie View A&M, they'd pick off one every now and then. And wouldn't it be fun watching the Michigan fans squeeze into those last two sections on the vistors side or the look on the Ohio State players faces when they caught a look at our vistors locker room. Sometimes I crack myself up. ::)  ::)  ::)  ::)

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I ran into one of my former students last night who is a freshman football player for Ashland this fall and I asked him if he got to play against Mount's JV team last week. He said "Oh no, we had everybody except the starters out there making sure we didn't lose again."

Not very brotherly there Brethren.

I doubt Larry will have a lot of great things to say about this game. I think inconsistant would describe their offensive performance. 148 yards and 4 td's for Nate-The TD scoring machine of all times baby.
