I can't believe someone gave me negative karma because I suggested that Otterbein be flagged for pre-game unsportsmanlike conduct.  Grow-up. I'm not sure which act was more immature.  Saturday or today?

I would also say that I find it hard to believe that Otterbein has done this same thing before every home game this season as "OldOtter" suggested.  The Columbus videographer (which I previously linked) seemed to spend a lot of time shooting this activity...and if it happens all the time why would someone from the program spend the time even shooting it in the first place?
It obviously was planned and intended to intimidate.  Let's see Otterbein try that next year at Mount Union.

Go ahead and reread my post. Like i previously said, Otterbein always goes out to that some place on the field, breaks out and runs through the banner. Like i also said, normally they don't even look towards the other team. I'm sure the emotion of playing another 8-0 team had something to do with that. I'm glad they were jacked for the game. Most teams head into a contest with mount scared and emotionless. Thats why teams fall apart in the first quarter. Otterbein was pumped. No one got into anyone elses face. Of course words were exchanged but no one made contact with a player from the other team. It's part of the game. I guess after Cecil's TD at the end of the second quarter he shouldn't have been able to celebrate with the fans in the back of the endzone like he did. I loved that he did that. Makes for a great atmosphere at the stadium and it's part of the excitment that goes with playing in a big game. I'm sure if it was worthy of a flag the ref would have went ahead and thrown in. My guess is that he realized it was just part of the game

And the whole karma thing, i have no idea what that means. I saw it under my name but really didn't know what that number had to do with posting. Wasn't me that gave you bad karma

For all of you who wished my family well, thank you.

MY F-I-L will be coming home tomorrow.  HE has a week where someone has to be with him 24/7 and about 3 months or so of recovery.

Let me catch up-

Congrats to ONU.  If anyone had a doubt about how important Marty is to Cap, there's another exhibit (It also goes to show how good the defense was last year that they could play without Marty and still finish second and give UWW a run in the playoffs).  I hope Cap can figure it out and beat BW next week.  6-4 is disappointing, 5-5 would be inexcusable.

OTT-MUC- No big surprise.  MUC has been doing this for years.

Schmiddy- you're an idiot.

OldOtter- Sorry man, I'm rooting for JCU.  THe Otters have had a good season, and I'd love to see two OAC teams in, but the Crusader in me can't stomach the thought of it being the Otters in the playoffs.

Wabash fans- Also can't stand them.  Went to Crawfordsville a few years ago when Cap played them there in the playoffs.  After we beat them, as I was walking out a Wabash fan (student age) said to me, "nice purple coat- FAG!"  My response:

"Fag?!?!?!- you're the one who went to an all boys school," and walked away.

Thanks again.

ps... Might be big news soon on the job.  Might be coming back to the midwest sooner rather than later.

Heaven forbid Otterbein should lose to Wabash or CWRU!  :o

I see no shame in losing a game as long as you give your best effort, regardless of the conference that team is from.

I hate to sound like such a prick on this subject, but for an OAC team to lose to Case would be a HUGE disgrace for the conference.  Case has had a nice run the last couple years, but they're not at the same level physically.

Wabash is pretty good and would probably be a great test for the 2nd OAC team, if not favored over them, but their team and fans are way beyond annoying.  And the NCAC as a whole is made up of teams that left the OAC because they were sick of losing.....oops, 'wanted to focus on academics".....  Hence the "don't lose to a NCAC team" sentiment.

So we agree on Wabash fans.   ;D

You assume CWRU isn't on the same level physically , but have you seen them?  I doubt it.  CWRU had six all region selections last year.

And things can change over time.  The first college game I ever saw was a Wittenberg rout of Mt Union in 1958.

While several schools left that left the OAC weren't competing successfully (two even dropped out of NCAC football for a year), that doesn't apply to Wittenberg, Allegheny, or Wabash.  In fact Witenberg was 7-1 its last OAC year and only 4-3 the next in NCAC (losing to Ohio Wesleyan and Denison).

BTW CWRU beat Otterbein 35-24 in 2003.

So you are misinformed.

That might've done them some good. A 15-yard unsportsmanlike to start the game means Otterbein would likely have started on its own 20 after Mount kicks the ball out the back of the end zone.

Nawww think the onside kick was in order then!  ;D LOL

I have seen most OAC, NCAC, and UAA schools this year.  Both Wabash and Case would have a good chance at 2nd or 3rd place in the OAC this year.  The people that still assume Case isn't that good are the people that think they know their team by their history.

I have a friend that starts for JCU.  They scrimmaged Case this year and he is still impressed with how good they were.

hope things go well with F-I-L, glad to hear he's coming home!  As for coming back to the midwest I take it that is good news? Last i knew you were in KY, right?
Oldotter
I don't think Cecil would have had the chance to high5 to the fans in the back of the end zone if there was enough bleacher space. I can't understand why they only have such a small visitor section. If they're going to be a contender like they want to be, they surely need to gain seating capacity on the visiting side as well to bring in the revenue. I thought Ohio Northern's visitor side was fairly small, but Ott has to be far less. I hope the Cards make the playoffs, as i feel they could rep the OAC well through at least two maybe even three games as I'm sure Mount will be shipped East again as North Central will likely stay in the North bracket!

OldOtter

Being a Mt. Fan, you've never had the pleasure of being the visiting team at Mt. Union. For how large your bleachers are, the school only gives the opposing team a very small section on the away team sidelines. Half of the away stands are reserved seating for Mount fans.  Don't get me wrong, to play in front of a home crowd like that would have been amazing. The mount fans are a great bunch and you guys fill your stadium regardless of whether you're playing an 0-9 team or in the semi finals. But, the seating really isn't great at your place. Just an outside observation...

And have you ever seen our lovely visitors locker room? ;D No argument that we could improve the two sections that are for visitors, but it's at least twice the size of Otterbeins and if you get into the upper rows the view is good. Sorry that across the aisle there may be Mount Fans. Worst I ever saw was Wisconsin Whitewater: 12,000 seats on one side 200 on the other with no facilties at all.

BTW - LK will be speaking at the HOF Luncheon next week for those of you allowed outside. I'll read about it in the Repository.

Pat - Sorry about ESPN trashing the D3 brackets show. I suffered through the D2 show last weekend and was really looking forward to the D3 show this week. Doesn't take much to amuse me, trapped in my bedroom.

A few decades ago, that might have been a good thing ;)

90 years ago we thought we had won "The War to End All Wars." Now with WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Kuwait, Bosnia, Afganistan, and Iraq all proving there is no end of war in sight, I want to thank all my fellow veterans for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Still proud to be an American

I feel that same pride for all our vets.  I have 3 sons, a daughter-in-law, and nephew all currently serving (1 Army Ranger, 4 Marines).  All of them are stateside now after serving long deployments this year in Iraq and Afghanistan.  I sleep much better now!!  I pray the new administration will continue to support our military and not make drastic budget cuts.

ric... at the conclusion of nate kmics carreer what are the chances you will change the front page of the mtunionfootball web site?
