Let X = the number of yards Kmic ends his career with

Let Y = the number of  rushing yards lost to stupid penalties

then X-Y = what could have been for Nate Kmic in total career yardage

I wonder what that total might already have been?

First off congratulations to OTT for a great year and making it to the playoffs. OTT was a lot bigger than I expected and had numerous athletes especially #3. He was everywhere yesterday. It was a great game to watch and with a few bounces here and there the outcome could have been the other way. Good game and again congratulations on a great season.

Pumpkin....no webcast...just audio.

Sigh........OTT was what I THOUGHT they were!   ::)

Hey FC.......we have to KNOW who you're team is to disrespect them.  Currently......most of us are in the Franklin??? mode.

This will sound a little silly considering the score...but Skunk and I thought the Mount D was a bit exposed yesterday.  I concur with the undersized line observation, and answer me this.......what is with Ely's cushion on receivers???  With a decent QB, and receivers who can actually catch the ball, Mount could have some issues with their soft-playing secondary.

Thoughts.....observations anyone?

I believe the situation with Ely is he's able to use his closing speed in most secondary schemes and would rather risk that as opposed to shadowing with his coverage. We saw earlier in the season when he was shadowing, he was getting called for too much pass interference (many insubstantiated) and therefore curtails that strategy abit more now. Along with the fact the field conditions yesterday were abit slick as the crumb rubber was pretty much brushed to the track and the surface completely hardened. I believe Ely talentwise, is one of the most underrated safeties in D3, and, though size might be a hinderance, could have NFL tryout capabilities. .........................provided his hotdog antics to the end zone don't take away from his true talent. ::)

Thanks Mt. Fan,
I agree with "one game at a time". Let's hope that when the egg shell cracks it has feathers on it and we can crow & strut just a little bit. If not, it will be just another runny egg! Next week will bring another intruder into the coop and we'll have to drive them out.

One thing we all know as Mount followers, LK doesn't look more than one game ahead ;D .......at least without using his crystal ball ;)

A good passing attack with good protection {haven't seen this yet for 4 quarters} will hurt Mt.    Solace in the fact the offense can make up for what the defense may give up.     Where's Monty's adjustments when you need them.    Vince is learning but could get caught off guard.    Blitzing more often maybe the answer.   DB covering is designed to not let the big play happen?  Inside the 30 they seem to tighten coverage.   Damn good against the run.   Also the closeness of the game may dictate more aggressive coverage.  Just my opinion.   This defense is not as dominating as their stats would dictate.  They just seem to get the job done.   Their speed helps to off set their smaller size and they are young.   Getting better every game.   If we win it all this year,  We'll need some breaks and a few lucky bounces won't hurt.     GO RAIDERS!

If you have satellite you should be able to get a the tape delay at 10:00 PM on STO (Sports Time Ohio) fearuring the voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers Joe Tait (unless the Cavs are on the road)
Doesn't look like the temperature will rise at all this week. Looking at a 28 degree high.

Although that blue glow coming from his office in the evening makes me believe he's ready for anybody that may come along.

All year long, all divisions rule change.  It's been that way since game 1.  The average NCAA Div. I game was all the way up to three and a half hours compared to just over three for the NFL.

Clock only stays stopped with less than two minutes in the 2nd and 4th quarter, just like NFL.  I think it's a great rule change.

I by contrast hate the new clock rules.  The almost never stopping clock is costing each team about 12 to 15 offensive plays a game.  I understand why the NCAA did it (more commercial $), but I'd rather see the games played under the old clock rules.

Toph, did you catch a game today?  Any thoughts from it?

I leave for awhile, and look what I miss!  FC- nice win, but your posts read like a bad "stream of consciousness" poet.

hscoach-

I was at the game yesterday.  My first thought:  It was cold, the Hood was warm.  That's where I spent the second half.

I was impressed with the way RMC played, particularly in the second quarter.  Things started off very badly for them, they were down 21-0 as soon as they stepped off the bus.  The team could've easily folded up after the pick six, and to be honest, I thought they would.  Instead, they played a hard fought second quarter, moved the ball offensively, and kept the Mount O off the field.  Unfortunately for the Jackets, they couldn't get the ball in the end zone, but I still liked the way they played.  Anytime you can keep Mount to 7 points in a quarter, you're doing something right.  RMC's fans were great.  They came out in force, made a lot of noise, and hit the cowbells hard...I was impressed.

For Mount, defensively I was surprised at how well RMC was able to move the ball early, but the Raiders always tightened up when they needed to.  Was it just me or after Ely jumped the route for the pick six, did it seem like the Mount DB's were playing back and trying to make a big play?  Was that the defensive game plan?

Offensively I thought it was hilarious that they didn't throw their first pass until there was about two minutes left in the first quarter.  Also, I think that Nate Kmic kid is going to be pretty good one day.  It was clear that Mount was going to establish the run and keep pounding Kmic, and RMC couldn't do a thing to stop it.

Unfortunately, no one from RMC took me up on my offer at the Hood.  I even wore a JCU sweatshirt to call attention to myself, but it was just locals.  I'll be back next week.  How's Hobart?  I listened from my freshman dorm room in '02 when they lost to Tom Arth and his merry band of offensive firepower (which only managed like 200 yards that day), but haven't seen much since.

In case it's as cold next week, does the "Hood" still have great cheeseburgers?

Owners and cooks may change but the hoodburgers?  Never!

Absolutely, I get the garlic bun...well worth the extra quarter.  I always make a stop at the Hood when I'm in Alliance.  Fried bologna is pretty good too.

I love watching Ely play.  And he got his comeuppance for hotdogging in the endzone yesterday when he went sliding on his can (not to mention the greeting he was about to receive from the Man when he returned to the sideline).  From the stands I thought his skid might have been part of the victory dance, but later on STO, it looked like humility lesson time.

Condolences to OTT and CWRU fans and players, and congratulations on your seasons.  Your silence on this board since yesterday speaks to your disappointment.  I have appreciated your participation in the discussions, and hope you will feel like getting back into the conversation soon.

Finally, thanks to all who helped me understand that I hadn't missed the post to which "FC 84 or something" was responding.  I might have been searching these pages for hours.

Sorry, MtFan and all you school teachers who give your lives to teach writers to properly credit their sources.
my Ely response didn't show the quote/credit from Mt Fan...because I don't know how to work this message board thing.
