Sorry Micheli was 193.7 last year so he s/b be breaking his own record. My fault for believing the NCAA website, not Mount Union's
I think what's been referred to above is "career" record, not single season?

I appreciate the corrections though from hscoach and others.  I am not a pro journalist or anything, but it's fun to try!

It would be hard to believe anybody beats Mt Union's 19 punts in 10 games in 2006. Of everything we've done it will always stand as one of the most impressive, but I'll check.

Nope- 193.7 is Micheli's 2007 rating   2007 Final Stats

Hey HSCOACH, I could have swore that DON MONTGOMERY was at the playoff game last weekend....that or his twin....he was exiting the stadium behind the concessions. Did he perhaps drop in the pressbox for a visit?  I swear I was stone sober too! ::)

Stone sober or not,   Don Montgomery WAS at the game Saturday.

Yes Don was there with his son. He also talked to LK before the game.

You didn't tell me Don was here. He owes me a hat! ;D

But one of the best running backs in D-III Nate Kmic left off

I think you can have only one nominee per school and per the article:

QuoteThe Gagliardi Trophy, given to the top well-rounded football player in Division III, has been awarded since 1993, and recognizes the top individual achiever in athletics, academics and community service.

You can't argue with Micheli's academic performances.

I don't see how you nominate Kmic over Micheli unless Kmic has a 3.85 GPA.

3.84 GPA with a double major in math and physics?  Micheli is John Carroll material!   ;D

Academically, yes.  But he'd really need to work on his ability to yell at his teammates and picking fights when down 30+ before he could start at JCU over Petruziello ;)
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Exactly.  Kmic is as deserving as any Mount player that has ever been nominated or won it, but Micheli's status as an Academic All-American in Physics/Math is the difference.  The rumor on the street was they nominated the player that they thought had the best chance of winning.

If the Gagliardi was a pure football ability award like the Heisman, then the easy pick would have been Nate.  But the academic part of Micheli's resume is beyond stellar.   We've all seen the guys that get academic awards based on a high GPA in something like education or history, but to have a 3.84 in a double major of PHYSICS and MATH is nuts.

I guess Kmic will just have to settle for the rushing record, a 2nd Stagg MVP award and a 3rd championship ring ;D

hscoach-

I'm sure Petruziello went to confession for that.  The doors to St. Francis aren't locked (at least that's what my mother kept trying to tell me, I didn't make it in there as much as she would've liked).   :P

Please make sure to take a moment and vote for Greg.....he's very deserving of your effort!

Nothing personal,

but I hope Hobart beats MUC . . .

and if they can't do it, then I hope to see Cortland beat MUC.

And if that doesn't happen, then I hope MUC wins it all, only to come to Rochester in September and get beat SJF.  . . .

The East is so over due.

Who's with me?

Don't forget Micheli is a Draddy Finalist.  That has to help with the Gagliardi application.
