Steve D. finally checks back in, about three and a half minutes deep into the second half with Whitworth up, 41-38.

Seems weird to be listening to a live basketball game this late at night, doesn't it?

It sure does. I'm having trouble with the broadcast though, as it keeps winking in and out on me. I live in an area where I can't get high speed internet, and trying to get the feed on dial-up many times is an impossibility. Some nights I just stay late in town at my store, where I have high speed service and watch or listen to a game there. Especially if my Plattsburgh St. Cardinals are on the road and the opponent has an audio or video feed.

I'll give more frequent updates, then.

It's now 43-40 with 16:00 left.

The funny thing about these two teams playing in a mostly-empty high school gym in Hawaii, thousands of miles away from the Whitworth and Carthage campuses, is that it's very easy to hear Bosko Djurickovic's distinctive baritone voice barking out instructions in his classic style.

Whitworth leads, 47-45, with 13:50 left.

Steve D. just shot his first FT of the game ... with ten minutes left. Wow.

Both he and Malcom Kelly have missed the front ends of one-and-ones over the past couple of minutes.

Steve D. with the three-point play makes it 57-53, Pirates. The Carthage superstar has a mere seven points in this game.

Mal Kelly is 0-8 from the field thus far.

Technical foul on Guzman. John Wiser just called Whitworth "cheap" and (sarcastically) a "class program" for the way that they've been bodying up Carthage. He just called one of the Pirates a "goon" for pushing Guzman, who was trying to get past the Pirates bench back to his own bench.

I think John's more worked up about the way the Pirates have muscled up Steve D. all night than he was about the Guzman fracas. It now appears that the technical has been rescinded. That's a puzzler. Never heard of a technical being retracted by the refs.

Steve D. still playing with four fouls. He just made two FTs.

John just said that Whitworth is "playing Augie style." Heh.
