Gay gets a nice finish with his left hand over a Wheaton defender, 44-42 Wheaton leads.

And Jahns nails a 3 after Wheaton almost turned it over 47-42 Wheaton.  Richter misses a layup but gets hit own board and tips it in.  Then he almost gets a steal but it goes out of bounds.  Wheaton leads 47-44.

Under 9:30.  McCrary blocked by Toth, Wash U gets the ball

Wheaton draws a 5 count and Wash U turns it over.

Wow... up and down they go, Wash U gets a steal from Gay and Richter turns it over, Panner gets a breakaway but misses the layup.  Under 8:30.

I agree, that was a huge miss.

Gay scores a layup for Wash U from Wallis, 47-46 Wheaton.  On the next possession, Wash U almost ties up the ball but Wallis gets his second foul.  Carwell almost gets the board.. he was fouled but no call, wow.  Wash U then gets it back and sends it ahead to Gay who scores and gets fouled.  Wash U now up 48-47 with 7:36, and he's got 1 FT coming.

Wow, that was huge.  Gay misses the FT, but Wheaton can't secure the rebound, it's saved by Toth to Wallis and they get it back to Gay who scores.  50-47.

And on the other end Wheaton missed a 3 and Gay dunks it home 52-47.

Jahns stops the bleeding on a nice layup.  52-49.  Moving screen on Toth, Wheaton gets it back.  Under 7:30 to go.

Shackelford misses a 3 for Wheaton, Wash U cleans it up... Suddenly they're leading the rebounding 25-22.

Timeout Wash U.

5:52 to go, I think.  Wash U leads 52-49

Yep, I agree.

Wash U can't put them away, they turn it over.

McCrary gets the steal and then gives it right to Gay for a layup 54-49.

Shackelford gets the layup right back 54-51.

Wheaton needs some stops if they want to get back in the game.  And they need rebounds.  Missed 3 by Smith, but Wash U gets the rebound.

Wash U throws it to Carwell trying to get a back door.

Carwell blocked Gay.  He's having a great half.

And McCrary gets a nice half hook after getting trapped, 56-53.

Wash U missed a jumper and gets called for the pushing foul on the rebound.  3:18 to go, Wheaton has possession.

McCrary scores again, 56-55,under 3 mins.

Thompson tries to get a back door cut but misses the layup, Wheaton secures.  McCrary gets triple teamed and Wheaton gets one, two passes to Jahns, who nails a 3, 2 point lead for Wheaton 58-56.

Kelly, finally back in the game, scores an easy layup 58-58 tie.  Wallis is called for a foul against McCrary, and they're in the bonus, that's 3 on Wallis.  McCrary is on the line for 1 and 1.  about 1 min to go, makes the first, 52.7 seconds to go.  makes the second.  60-58 Wheaton leads.

I guess Wheaton wanted a chance to win it as opposed to trying to stop 'em.  Perhaps it makes sense, we'll see if he makes them.
