Wheaton went on a 10-2 run to grab a 32-24 lead with 3 minutes left in the half, but then Carthage closes the half with a 6-2 run.  Wheaton leads 34-30 at the half.

A bit of a sloppy game.  Carthage with 10 turnovers, Wheaton with 8.

Not surprisingly (given the score), most stats are very close.  Wheaton with a +3 on rebounds. Carthage shooting at 46%, Wheaton 41%.  Wheaton shooting 40% (4 of 10) from 3pt, Carthage 29%.

McCrary with nearly a double-double at half.  9 pts, 8 rebs, 3 steals, 4 turnovers.

NPU is shooting a crazy-bad 30%, with a lot of the misses being point-blank looks within five feet of the basket. Augie looks like it's shed the shooting doldrums, as the Doggies are 52% from the field and 4-9 from downtown. Augie is also back to form on the boards after the Elmhurst rebounding fiasco, leading the rebounding battle over NPU by a commanding 24-13 margin.

So ... why is this still a game? Because the Rock Islanders have turned the ball over 15 times, many of them unforced turnovers. Augie just looks shockingly bad when it has the ball in its hands -- misfired passes, lots of charges, etc.

Emanuel Crosby leads the good Vikes with 10 points off the bench, but it took him nine shots to get that ten. Freshman Mark Roth, who was inserted into the starting lineup by Grey Giovanine tonight, hit three triples in four attempts to lead the Doggies with nine.

I'm not panicking yet - in the second half, IWU cannot shoot that bad; NCC cannot shoot that good.  Can they??!!
