I'M TAKING MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE INSTEAD, SINCE NO ONE HAS TAKEN THEM YET.
Mississippi College came from 16 points down in the first half against Concordia-Austin (pre-season 4th pick in the 8-team ASC-West) tonight to win 99-89.  It was a one possession game until the last 2 minutes.

Miss College plays at UMHB on Saturday!

Yikes!  Risky pick then.  ;D

Yea, someone else is out on Saturday night in what should be a good game.
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

McMurry lost ugly, 60-63 at home, after beating ETBU on the road earlier today.

My second choice is UMHB.  McMurry will need some help now that UMHB has knocked off Miss College at home.

Honestly, it was that bad!  I am at a lost for words, at least recognizable sentence structure!  ::)

As the voice of coast guard, i'm just curious how the idea of picking them came about...

To the people who did...looks like you did good homework, in knowing that if they survive one more week, they're into early january, since they go home for xmas break and don't play (you stick with your pick, right?)

would be interesting to have contest rule that you can't pick a team in the top 25...

and I should note with that said, CGA next opponent, Becker, is much improved from last season...and the team they play after that is Wentworth, which beat Coast Guard last year.

To atnwriter:

As far as my thinking goes for the Survivor Pool, I do try to pick schools that do not play in holiday tournaments.  While I'm sure it is great fun for the teams involved, playing around Christmastime in warm weather spots (Las Vegas, Florida, Hawaii) after travelling great distances, plus going against unfamiliar competition from perhaps D-II or NAIA schools, doesn't give you the best chance of keeping a streak alive.  I figure if you don't play from mid-December until early January, you give everyone else a chance to lose while you can't, kind of like Ohio State in the BCS.

I also try to stay away from picking school in conferences that have similar institutions that tend to beat each other up, like the public universities in the WIAC, NJAC, SUNYAC, etc.

I picked Rhode Island College last year because they beat D-1 Iona before the pool started and played in a relatively weak, top-heavy conference.  They dropped only one game, by 4 points, to Keene State prior to January 20th. I almost picked Keene this year, but saw that they had a holiday tournament with Calvin, Montclair St. and Salem St., so I picked RIC again.

Given those criteria, of the remaining unbeatens, Coast Guard seemed to be the best fit.

As I joked earlier, I think the smart pick is Plattsburgh State. They are loaded.  I just can't pick them.  It would be like Coach K picking North Carolina.

Now I have to go get ready to be buried under snow and ice. Got to love upstate NY.
Gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up, Ricky. - Lane Myer

smedindy

I don't wish to embarrass myself again, nor give another team the kiss o' Smed. So I'm sitting out the second chance.

I am fairly surprised no one has taken Rochester, I figure they should be good till atleast January.
