All is quite on this thread as the schools chug along with finals.  Back to action in a couple weeks...

Not quite, as Rochester is still playing.  Tonight they were winning, 75-58 over St. John Fisher.  The YJs will now sit on their #1 ranking until the Chase Tournament begins on Jan. 9.

St. Mary's in Minnesota is in the throes of depression on campus (perhaps).

Then men are now 0-8 and 0-4 in the MIAC. Their next game in December 22 against D-1 Loyola of Chicago. Ulp.

The women are 0-6 and 0-4 in the MIAC and don't play again until January 2.

Both the men's and women's hockey team have losing records as well.

so that would qualify as a down year ;D

hopefan

Rochester stays undefeated, beating SJF.

Kalamazoo loses close to IU SE, Alma down to streaking Oberlin, and Baptist Bible out verses Lancater Bible

No Changes

And a murmur goes up from our fans about the potential classic matchup uf Alma and Kalamazoo in the MIAA !!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

sac

Kzoo has Davenport today, thats winnable, and play Marygrove after Christmas.  Hope beat them 52, Albion by 63.  I don't think Kzoo makes it to MIAA play winless.  But maybe against D3.

Alma has a tournament with Finlandia, winnable, and then would play the winner of Davenport and Purdue-Calumet.  I imagine those are winnable.  But if Alma fails in those two games, O-fer the season is not out of the question.

Jan 9 Kzoo at Alma

"for the first time since 1922...."

LOL, very clever.

speaking of headlines, we must bring one we've used previously in "Around the Nation."

Alma Matters

Kzoo gets its first win this afternoon 66-60 over Davenport, they remain winless vs D3.

Augsburg fails to lose to Scholastica, 84-72, and falls off the winless list.

Augie beats Oshkosh, UWO drops their first game and drops off the list.

I doubt we are doing a third round, but seriously Emerson is prob going to be the team that goes undefeated this year unless they get upset. Their last serious opponent was MIT which they beat by double-digits. Lasell could cause a fit in one of the home and home match ups, but other than that their conference should not cause much of a fuss.

There hasn't been a complete, updated list in a while - I guess I'm elected! ;D

Undefeated (13):

Coast Guard, 8-0
Elizabethtown, 9-0
Emerson, 7-0
Geneseo St., 6-0
Immaculata, 5-0
Mass-Dartmouth, 8-0
McDaniel, 6-0
Plattsburgh St., 6-0
Puget Sound, 6-0
Rochester, 9-0
Stevens, 8-0
Trinity (TX), 6-0
Williams, 7-0

[Mostly doesn't strike me as 'Murderers Row'; having briefly looked at their schedules, I'd agree with an earlier post that Emerson looks like this year's Lake Erie.]

Winless (15):

Albertus Magnus, 0-8
Alfred, 0-8
Alma, 0-6
Beloit, 0-6
Caltech, 0-4
Colorado Col., 0-8
Del Val, 0-9
Denison, 0-8
Lancaster Bible, 0-9
UMPI, 0-6
Monmouth, 0-7
Philly Bible, 0-7
Rockford, 0-7
St. Mary's (MN), 0-8
Texas Lu, 0-7

[Lancaster Bible should, IMO, be disqualified - Pat doesn't even track their schedule, and it took me 4 tries on Google to find their record.  I think they have an unfair advantage to losing, and would place last in most intramural leagues! ;)]

Corrections appreciated.

EDIT: Rockford inserted on winless list - thanks Hopefan.

I am clamoring for a Lancaster Bible / Unity collision, then!  :P
Wabash Always Fights!

Conference play always springs an upset or two in most leagues, though.

I agree but the GNAC really does not have anything other than Lasell and Emerson, and Lasell is a new addition this year....So really if they can get through those two games, It would not just be your run of the mill upset it would be a huge upset if say Mount Ida or Daniel Webster beat them...If you have never heard of these schools...there is a reason. I am sorry if that offended any people from these institutions but its kind of true.

Those of us who get our jollies on the 'winless' board really miss Mt. Idy and Danny Webster this year! ;D

[Apologies if there are any fans of those schools on the board - I'm sure they are fine institutions. :-[]
