I should have said 2...

Amherst beats Williams by 7

Mr. Ypsi

The pool seems to have been forgotten!

We have a winner, as Williams falls to Amherst.  Of those teams selected, that leaves only Greg and Rochester still standing.  Congratulations! :D

Coast Guard has now lost two in a row.  Rochester is the only selected survivor either originally or in the second chance.

After the dust settled from Friday and Saturday, here is what remains:

Undefeated  :  (2)  Rochester and UMass Dartmouth  - though it took narrow wins by both to stay that way - Geneseo, Williams and Emerson each lose their first

Winless  :  (6)  Denison, Colorado College, Rockford, Lancaster Bible, Mitchell, and Alma         Albertus Magnus drops off with a win over Daniel Webster

Undefeated vs D3  :  (4)  Widener, Puget Sound, Mary Hardin Bayloe, Millsaps
Occidental drops off losing to Claremont Mudd Scripps

Winless vs D3  : (8) Blackburn, Northland, Delaware Valley, Franciscan, MacMurray, North Central Minn, Presentation, Maine Presque Isle
Crown drops off the list, beating Northland.   UMPI leads the way, losing by 60 to Bowdoin
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Sunday activity shows no changes to our list   -  Mitchell stays winless losing to the wonder team of the year, Green Mountain,  and Millsaps stays undefeated vs D3 beating Austin.

Today's activity is minimal.... Millsaps plays again in Texas, vs U of Dallas, and undefeated vs D3 Widener hosts Immmaculata.

6 winless left...can they get a win sometime this year?

smedindy

Let's see:

Denison has two games against Hiram and Earlham and one against Oberlin. Certainly there's a win in there somewhere. 90% chance of a win.

Colorado College has road games against Sewanee, Rhodes and Austin, the bottom of the SCAC. They play host to Southwestern. A win could come out of those four. 40% chance of a win.

Alma has home games against Olivet and Tri-State and a road trip to Olivet. Those may be their best / only chances. 33% chance of a win.

Rockford has a road game to Concordia (IL) and a home game against Maranatha. That seems to be their only hopes. 25% chance of a win.

Mitchell's best chances are at Salve Regina, home against Lyndon State, Southern Vermont and CCNY, and their final road game against Albertus Magnus. Plus they face St. Joseph's of Brooklyn (yo...). A win is quite possible against that motley crew. 90% chance of a win, mainly because St. Joe's has played such luminaries as Williamson Free Trade and the Mt. St. Vincent JV.

Lancaster Bible now has a stretch where they face Penn State - Name Your Town and some other lesser lights. 50% chance of a win.

Smed  -  you and I think alike  - I was doing the same kind of workup

Lancaster has a couple of close score and plays a large number of weak programs the rest of the way - Guaranteed victory somewhere

Rockford and Alma are in similar situations  bottom of the totem poll in conferences where there are other weaker teams, but they appear to be pretty far behind
Alma 12 to 1   Rockford 10 to 1

Denison - I saw play in St Louis - interesting comparison in that I thought they were close to even with SLIAC 1st place team Webster - Gotta think they can beat Oberlin, Hiram or Earlham, or even Kenyon  3 to 2

Mitchell - there are so many of those little colleges in NE - they have been close a number of times  5 to 1

Colorado college  -  all there tough opponents are at Colorado, all the lessers are away, and they've lost to some of them at home  8-1

So I guess my ranking in likelihood of finding a winner is
Lancaster Bible
Denison
Mitchell
Colorado College
Rockford
Alma   (Alma better beat Tri State at home, or there odds go up to 50 - 1)

I agree that Denison will likely come up with at least one win against Earlham, Hiram, and Oberlin.  Three of those games are at home, and I believe the Big Red will win at least two of them.

But likely not Kenyon.  That would be a monumental upset.  Although maybe not as good as some of us hoped, the Lords are much improved and a program on the rise.  Just ask Wabash.

Alma shouldn't beat Olivet in either schools gym.  Olivet is much better than their record, I left Saturday's game with Hope puzzled at their 4-8 record.  Maybe they just had a great game vs Hope but personnel wise they're way ahead of Alma.

If Tri-State can beat Adrian they shouldn't lose to Alma either.  TSU seems to  play to the level of their competition.  They've had some good games and some awful games.  Pretty inconsistent.

smed and hopefan, I like where your heads are at...Good Work! :)

Sac - I know that realistically Alma is behind Olivet in talent, but it is conference play and anything can happen. Well, almost anything. Hiram ain't gonna beat Wooster. Alma ain't gonna beat Hope.
