I have no clue as to the Chicago problem, but I'd strongly recommend that Hope schedule some d3 opponents that are not in the CCIW!  (Despite being 7-4 overall, their 0-2 in d3 are defeats by Wheaton and Carthage in the MIAA-CCIW challenge.)

Hope's 35-29 all-time vs the CCIW

While I didn't know that, it doesn't surprise me.  My point was certainly not that Hope can't compete with the "mighty CCIW" :P; it was that out of 11 non-con games, only TWO were d3 (and, without checking for sure, I don't think Hope has fared well in the years when the MIAA-CCIW Challenge is in CCIW-land).  If (God forbid :o) Hope doesn't get the AQ, that's one helluva handicap in getting a C.

Carthage is not in-region

True, which means Hope had ONE in-region non-con game!  (Though, if they had won, they could appeal for the "magic ferry". :D)

NOT a wise strategy if pool C becomes necessary.

sac

If Hope makes the MIAA tournament Championship they'll have 18 in-region games.

Sorry we don't have the Sliac, MWC and NathCon to beat up on in the MIAA.

Hey hey hey, watch those potshots at the SLIAC - we play those powerhouse conferences for the guarantees!!!!   (all you can eat at Ponderosa and a free DVD for the trip home!!!!)   ;D ;D

Honestly the way the MIAA has been faring in recent years, I'm confident the better SLIAC teams could compete with the bottom half of the MIAA - I can't make that statement as easily in competition of SLIAC teams with CCIW......
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Touche'. :D

But you do have the PrAC, NCAC, OAC, etc.  And there's always Finlandia! ;)

None of those conferences have a single school within the bounderies of the MIAA, Chuck.   And if you're even suggesting the OAC is on the same level as the Nathcon, MWC or Sliac we have can have that discussion another time.  The Nathcon, MWC  both have schools within your conference bounderies.  Even the closest NCAC and OAC schools are over 2 hours away for everyone but Adrian.

.......are you serioulsy suggesting the PrAC schools for the MIAA are comparable to playing someone in your own backyard?

Bottom line we don't have a D3 conference in the middle of ours, let alone two, so all of our schools have trouble scheduling in-region D3's.

Adrian - 4
Albion - 3
Alma - 5
Calvin - 0
Hope -1
Kzoo - 6
Olivet - 1
Trine - 5

*  Alma had to play Finlandia twice on back-to-back days just to get to 5.

In four years I can only find 2 MIAA/SLIAC matchups.  Eureka beat Alma, and Kzoo beat Principa.

Sorry, sac, I thought you were making a crack about strength, not geography. :-[

(And the bottom-dwellers of the GL conferences [even the OAC] are every bit as weak as the Midwest conferences.  And the top of the MWC [and sometimes the NathCon and SLIAC] are on a par with the GL conferences, as well.)  As a peninsula, Michigan IS geographically deprived (though we probably won't get much sympathy from Texas or the Left Coast.

This conclusion is based on your extensive viewings of the "bottom-dwellers" of the OAC?  (Or the Midwest conferences, for that matter?)

sac

Baldwin-Wallace is 0-4 in the OAC,  they beat North Central 72-67

............and another thing  ;)

Calvin made it as a 'C' in 2006 with just 15 in-region games and 13-2 in-region record.

Hope made it as a 'C' in 2007 with "just" 20 in-region games and a 16-4 in-region record.

magicman

Amherst falls off the undefeated list losing to Wesleyan in huge upset 72-69. Drops to 9-1

Ithaca stays unbeaten topping Utica 87-64.  Now 11-0

NYU stays unbeaten with a 62-55 win over Oneonta to move to 9-0

Undefeated list down to  5 teams

Et tu, David? :o

I thought sac was doing a pretty good job of beating my butt without assistance! :-[

To switch sports, that's fifteen yards for piling on. ;D

If I'm not mistaken NYU is the only program in all of D1 + D2 + D3 that is undefeated so far this year. With a combined record of 19-0, the NYU Men's and Women's teams are playing quite well heading into UAA league play this Friday.
