Only St. Thomas left to go down before I am crowed champion as F&M loses. Whee! :P

It's a good thing we're not playing the second best team in the CCIW without our second best player tomorrow. :P
Okay everyone, if Wheaton wins the Survival Pool, we've got to "crow" her champion!   :D

And with that gantlet, I wonder if a CCIW team has EVER won the Survivor Pool?

[I know none have since the 'Survivor Pool', but I wonder if anyone has since d3 was born?]

If it occurs, she can certainly 'crow'! ;D

Only if she can sing as well as this crowe......

Redemption!

Yes I can sing :P

Is my caveat for April entering late still valid (that Wheaton can't lose all year)?

I'm good with the Tommies; I think it's their year.  Although it does take a lot of guts to go with a CCIW team in this contest.

Polytechnic trips up Bard in battle of "winless" - though Polytechnic already claims a win over Mt St Mary's on their web site?? Who knew???

Verrrry interesting. The following quote is from the Mt. St. Mary's web site:

BROOKLYN, NY – Trailing by five near the midpoint of the second half, the Mount Saint Mary College men's basketball team used a 17-1 run to take control of the game on their way to a 75-69 defeat of the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. The Blue Knights snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 2-5 overall, 1-2 in the Skyline Conference. The Blue Jays dropped to 0-9 and 0-4 in the conference.

And these are the scores and team record posted on the Polytechnic web site:

Date  Time  Place  Opponent  Score
2008-11-15   7pm   Away   Stevens Tech   L 91-54 (0-1; 0-0)
2008-11-16   5pm or 7pm   Away   Washington and Jefferson   L 82-49 (0-2; 0-0)
2008-11-19   6pm   Away   Baruch   L 91-66 (0-3; 0-0)
2008-11-21   7pm   Home   Centenary   L 87-77 (0-4; 0-0)
2008-11-23   7:30pm   Away   Yeshiva   L 68-64 (0-5; 0-1)

2008-12-02   8pm   Home   Farmingdale   L 86-64 (0-7; 0-2)
2008-12-06   4pm   Away   Old Westbury   L 98-83 (0-8; 0-3)
2008-12-09   7pm   Home   Mount St. Mary's   W (1-8; 1-3)    2009-01-05    7:30pm   Away   Caltech   L 77-69 (1-9; 1-3)
2009-01-06   5pm   Away   Whittier   L 108-69 (1-10; 1-3)
2009-01-08   8pm   Home   Maritime   L 83-73 (1-11; 1-4)
2009-01-10   1pm   Away   Mount St. Vincent   L 129-128 (1-12; 1-5)
2009-01-14   8pm   Away   Bard   W 87-68 (2-12; 2-5)

It would appear we have a war of words about the outcome of that Dec. 9th contest. I vote for Mt. St. Mary's. Wonder what they're smoking over at Polytechnic, because they claimed to have won the game but they don't know what the score was. ;D

i'm going to assume that MSM had to forfeit their only wins (thus giving Polytech possibly their only win of the year) because they were using a player who was ineligible.

Thanks guys.  I guess that solves the mystery. But if Polytechnic hadn't beaten Bard would they come off the list if their win was a forfeit? Is a victory on paper the same as a win on the court?

I don't think forfeits should affect their status here...

It looks like hosting Emory and CWRU on Jan 16th and 18th will be the best chances of the season for the Maroons.

Can I retroactively pick Wheaton??

I'm ok with it, but because you came to it late, Wheaton has to be the last team in d3 to lose in order for you to win.

Thanks magicman  :-*

Let's be serious. If I somehow magically outlast these guys given the strength of the CCIW compared to MIAC, and despite the injury of Kent Raymond, I deserve the prize. :P
