Caltech has a good recruiting class coming in.  With Edwards and a couple of the other guys coming back, the will have a pretty legitimate starting five, plus a couple guys coming off the bench to contribute.  They will still be very young (essentially all freshman and sophomores contributing, which are Coach Eslinger's only two recruiting classes), but they should show improvement.  I woudnt say they are going to be an overall winning team yet, but I wouldnt discount them completely either.  Coach Eslinger is trying to implement that MIT formula (he coached there for 6 years), that seems to be working pretty well on the other side of the country.

I hope Bluffton University isn't on the list very long this season.  The 2009-10 season was a pretty ugly journey (2-23) with an (0-16) start.  Go Beavers!

Hugenerd

Maybe its with the beaver nickname? Caltech's mascot is also the beavers.

RustCollege

Maybe we should watch out for Rust College because they have two of the best players returning Markeith Wilson 6'3 and Larry Veasley 6'7

Seems like kind of a cheap shot at a Nazarene team that won SEVEN games last year.   (And has won less than 4 only once in the last 7 years.  They're hardly a powerhouse [in fact, they are basically ba-a-ad], but not really a 'winless' candidate either.)

Don't confuse them with the REAL contenders, like Caltech or the late, lamented, UMPI!

Honestly, I'm not convinced Caltech is by leaps and bounds worse than any other team in Division III. They just don't have a chance to play others in Club 400.

I think Caltech could be much better record-wise if they were in a thicker d3 area, like New England.  It should be a good game.

I still take Prin in the winless poll!!!!! ;D ;D
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Even with Blackburn in the same league, Hopefan? Seems to me that the best bet in a winless pool would be a team that is so comparatively inept that it poses no threat to beat even the next-worst team in its league, a la Caltech in the SCIAC.

I take MIT in the undefeated pool.  I hope they make it to the Harvard game unblemished again like last year.

ENC's flying to Caltech in December.  ENC's improved a bit, but with travel, etc - I think Caltech's got a decent shot to win.

I'm going to take Wooster in the pool, by the way.  I think they've got a favorable schedule.  One neutral game against Ohio Northern I think they can win.

Not to mention their last two recruiting classes.  Caltech has some pretty good players now, but depth will likely be an issue.

My undefeated pick is UT-Dallas.

While it is insane, of course, to select a CCIW school, I'll be my usual 'homer' anyway and take IWU! :P

IF they can make it thru Jan 6 in Kenosha, then maybe, just maybe ...

Chuck, do you take a snorkel with you when you dive into the vat of green Kool-Aid, or do you just try to drink it down to the level where you can stand up in the tank? :D

I just do the back float a lot! ::)

Hey, I at least admitted I was an insane homer! :P
