Can I switch my undefeated pick to Alma? The Scots are 2-0!  :o

That pick has an expiration date of either

Nov 29 @ Lake Superior State
or
Dec 4 @ Western Michigan

They'll probably win tonight and move to 3-0 and the combined record of their 3 opponents will move to 1-18  :-\
(I am happy to see they have some Fr. who can play)

Chuck, do you take a snorkel with you when you dive into the vat of green Kool-Aid, or do you just try to drink it down to the level where you can stand up in the tank? :D

Ya know I'm dying to see the probability that IWU goes unbeaten this year.  Maybe Mr Y will give us a double and give us the probability both the IWU men and women go unbeaten. :)

For each, about .001.  For both, about .00001.

But, hey, there's a chance! ;D

More seriously, I feel sorry for fans who don't know how to dream. ;)  (And with the women ranked #3 and the men ranked #4, I've got more 'realistic' dreams than most would! :o ;D)

Since Greg compiles the CCIW pickems, he knows I do not ALWAYS predict IWU.  Usually, sure, but aside from a few years lately, usually has worked pretty well! ;)  You guys need to recognize a separation between my dreams and my (semi-informed) 'rational' speculation.

Well, now there is zero chance - #3 IWU (women) fell to #12 DePauw, 77-65, in the very first game. :(

I take no pleasure in stating this fact as I wanted him to win the Survivor Pool but Ethelred the Unready bites the dust as Plattsburgh State falls to Western Connecticut State, 86-80. It certainly was a game Plattsburgh should have won but their 2 big scorers both had bad shooting nights going a combined 7x27 from the field with no made 3 pointers between them (usually average 4 to 6 ).

I do however take pleasure in this fact: Middlebury 63 Baruch 60.

We all missed out.  Green Mountain will be taking the winless crown this year.

http://athletics.greenmtn.edu/sports/mbkb/2010-11/files/mcm1118.htm

They lost 27-94 to a mediocre-at-best Mitchell squad tonight.  Green Mountain played five guys all 40 minutes - no subs.  14 rebounds total and 22 turnovers.

I had heard there were some defections from the team, but this is rough.

15 Mitchell players played double digit minutes - no one more than 15.  Everyone scored save Eric Del Rio (who played the longest and notched 3 assists).

It was 7-49 at halftime.

hopefan's Carthage Redmen defeat Bethany Lutheran 108-92

Mr. Yipsi was sweating bullets as IWU barely survives 78-76 over Aurora on a Doug Sexauer basket with 5 seconds left to play. Titans came back from a 15 pt deficit in this game. Aurora's last 5 possessions resulted in 3 missed field goals, missed the front end of a 1&1 and another missed fg. LUCKY TITANS!!!

smedindy's Tommies also in a squeaker as they beat Pacific Lutheran 73-70

PointSpecial has the closest call of the night as Amherst beats Maine-Farmington in OT 90-89

KnightSlappy's happy as Depauw opens the season with a 64-58 win over Franklin

I've never seen a boxscore without subs.  Incredible.

They also have only 20 games on their schedule.

Mr. Ypsi probably would have been sweating bullets, except he wasn't following the game! ;D  Mr. Y can't seem to get out of football mode. :P

While he notes the shocking loss of (women's) #3 IWU to #12 DePauw, and the narrow win by the men, he is still fixating on NCC and Wheaton in football.

Since Mr. Y is not particularly a fan of either NCC or Wheaton (just of the CCIW), he is uncertain why this should be true.  Mr. Y is also uncertain why he is suddenly posting in the 3rd person. :P

Mr. Y pleads guilty to the charges, and hopes desperately to escape from this prison! :D

I did do some bball study this evening, and think I may be beginning to emerge from this fball nightmare! :D  Though I see on the national pickems that Mr. Y is tied for the lead with a lazy fball fallback position, so Mr. Y may not have left the building just yet! ;D

It appears Mr. Ypsi is not only talking in the third person but also is not acquainted enough with himself to be able to get away from using the formal "Mr." when referring to his himself.

Mr. Ypsi

The much anticipated (well, at least by hopefan and me! ;)) Jan. 8th showdown of unbeaten Carthage v. unbeaten IWU has been derailed.  Carthage falls by a point to #18 JCU, 70-69.

They did it again.  Scoring better, but still without subs.  Green Mountain falls to Mt Ida 39-95.  Mt Ida only played six guys, perhaps in an attempt to be sporting?  Brian Hapgood managed a triple double for them.

I'm going to look into this.  There's got to be a story there.
