Green Mountain College is a small liberal arts college focused on environmental issues.  They've got about 800 students and, actually, seems like a really cool place.

From their website:

QuoteGreen Mountain College is situated in southern Vermont's beautiful lakes region, with the Adirondack Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east. The 155-acre campus features athletic fields, a farm with a garden and livestock, a ropes course, hiking trails, and a great swimming hole on the Poultney River.

Students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience through internships, service-learning opportunities and study abroad programs. Interdisciplinary block courses allow students to spend an entire semester working with professors from multiple disciplines on a single area of focus, often through field research, overnight outings, discussions with experts and a culminating project. Adventure programming and the Farm and Food Project provide additional hands-on learning opportunities.

They've got six players listed on the basketball roster; none over 6'2".  Two Seniors, two Sophomores, and two Freshmen.  Sophomore guard Kenneth Williams must be injured or otherwise predisposed.

They lost all five starters from last year's squad.  One of the players listed in their pre-season summary is not on the roster - he's evidently been replaced by a local kid.

This could be a long year for Green Mountain.

RPI guys who were too gross to get Russel Sage or Skidmore girls for dates would sometimes hitch up route 7 to try Green Mountain college... if you struck out, you still could go over to the Green Mountain
track and bet the ponies or dogs.....

But enough reminicing... no one noticed that one of my SLIAC teams took Sager's Rockford team out of the winless competition   Rockford beats Eureka!!!!

My Carthage team falls, but my Principia boys lose to Sewanee, staying alive in the highly prestigious winless competition....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I think there should also be a special recognition for the last person still alive in both pools.

My double-whammy super secret hex worked on UT-Dallas.

Schreiner beat Trinity earlier in the week, so they have something building with their "new" (3rd-year) coach, 1995 Kenyon grad, Drew Miller.

We all missed out.  Green Mountain will be taking the winless crown this year.

I've never seen a boxscore without subs.  Incredible.

They also have only 20 games on their schedule.

I have for some obscure obscure teams from the nether regions of Christian athletics.

But yikes!!!

BTW - they have a Cleopass Nakoma on their team. Name of the year, obscure NE region tomato can division?

Hugenerd

Caltech lost by just 8 points to ORV Merchant Marine.  Could be the year they break through for some wins.

smedindy

By 8? Progress!

BTW, UMPI is gone from D-3, right? Officially?

Maybe Green Mountain can get a game with Unity??

BTW - from the Unity Web Site:

"Or you can put your energy into club sports like baseball, ice hockey, lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee, and Woodsmen."

What the heck is Woodsmen?

(I bet Unity's Ultimate Frisbee team is world-class!)

smed  -  you don't remember the old wide world of sports competition... the lumberjack competition with handling a saw or ax or climbing a tree or log rolling.... ;D ;D ;D

I hear they're also excellent at "the floor is lava".

There was actually a UWSP student who competed in the newer ESPN version recently (last couple of years).
