Caltech's last SCIAC win was on January 26, 1985, a 58-47 win over LaVerne. That was 310 straight losses ago.

ESPN even had a little footage from the game and a brief mention of the end of the streak that I just spotted at 4:08 AM.

Eeesh. You can tell the Caltech students are not practiced in storming the court. Too many walkers.

It may be to CalTech's advantage that Elmquist's FT bounced around the rim a few times, because Oxy could only advance the ball to mid-court before heaving a running attempt that bounced off the right side of the back board.

Three seconds is a very long time!

Come on guys, cut the students some slack. Walking looks pretty fast compared to taking 26 years between conference wins!

A person walking 8 hours per day at an average pace of 3 miles per hour for 26 years would travel about 228,000 miles. Those students that storm-walked the court could tell you that the moon's perigee is only 225,622 miles from Earth.

Actually, they would tell you that perihelion pertains to an orbit around the sun. Perigee would be the closest point in an earth-centric orbit.

Sorry for the poor quality, it was the only clip I could find, but this video must be included on this historic occasion:

I'll give them slack. How many grad students were in the group? They're the only ones that were possibly even born in 1985! And even then some probably weren't.

Survivor Series   Undefeated

And we arrive at the Final Four

Hoops Fan                Wooster

magicman                 Middlebury

PointSpecial              Amherst

Greg Sager               Whitworth

...
Yeah, that looks plausible.  I am trying to figure out how to get Middlebury and Amherst sufficently separated so as not to meet until the Final Four in Salem.  Whitworth and Wooster are plausible for the other 2 slots.   ;)

Ralph,
With Williams, Amherst and Middlebury all coming out of NESCAC, and with the East, and Atlantic regions being so weak, I think you can send a pool c team, either Amherst or Mid over to the Atlantic region. Let's say Amherst goes to the Atlantic where they can beat a Mid Atlantic or an ODAC team to get to Salem. Meanwhile Middlebury advances through the Northeast and East to get to Salem. :D

Well Ralph, it looks like it wasn't a problem getting Amherst and Middlebury separated so they don't meet until the Final Four. Turns out it was Wooster and Whitworth that have to meet in the quarterfinals instead of the FF. :D
