Three of the nine Franciscan players were home-schooled as well. I know they have organized home-school teams now, but still they may be at a disadvantage in player development.

... Didn't seem to hurt Tebow...

Unless you count his passing accuracy.....

Not sure of the relevance of Peter (is Tebow's faith challenged at the times he goes down publicly?), and I think I'll take Jesus over Paul.  But I will now retreat to my closed room. ;)

I have nothing against Tebow.  His faith is clearly sincere.  I'm just SO sick of the 'cult' of Tebow.  He was NOT the best rookie QB this year (Newton beat him hands down).  He was not even #2 among young QBs (Matthew Stafford FINALLY stayed healthy for a season and, at 23, became the 4th QB in history to have 5,000 yards in a season).  And I don't blame Tebow for this - I don't think he even wanted the attention.  So (this is confusing!) I'm absolutely sick of Tebow, even though Tebow had nothing to do with it! :P

I'm not sure that "challenged" applies there... I think the NIV or KJV has it better... rather than "give a defense," I think "give an answer" is more accurate.  Though one could counter that 1 Peter 3:15 admonishes one to give an answer when asked about the hope that they have... and nobody's asking Tebow...

I think that the hubbub about Tebow has come from people attributing things to him that he never said... never did he say that God had caused his team to win... sure he regularly thanks his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Eph 5:20).  But this is in victory AND defeat!  Tebow hasn't paraded around and said "My God is bigger than yours!"

Newton can't beat Tebow for Rookie QB of the Year honors.  Tebow wasn't a rookie. ;D

At the risk of going off topic  ;), I don't think Jesus is actually saying that one must pray only in private. I think the point of that passage in Matthew is that it's the sincerity of prayer that's valued and not the demonstration and/or wordiness of the prayer. If Tebow is 'Tebowing' for the demonstration, that's bad. If he's doing it with sincerity, that's good.

So how about that Franciscan team, huh? They seem pretty bad.

Yeah, Tebow's been hurt by the overreaction of everyone around him.  He never asked to start - he's just been willing to play when called upon.  Granted, he's not telling anyone to back off either, but much of the hoopla is outside of his control.  Personally, I think he's a terrible QB - and much too talented and charismatic to waste his time playing football poorly - but Denver fans are idiots and they deserve whatever they get.

I wish I believed the odds were that good.  Seems like any time these two play it's a battle.  On paper, this is probably the toughest single game left for CMS in the regular season.

Last nights action:

Undefeated:   CMS stays that way with a nail biter. THe Stags beat Pomona-Pitzer 57-55. They also claim The Belt.TM

Winless:  Earlham almost said goodbye but came up just a bit short losing to Defiance 66-65.

Undefeated vs D3:
And the rivalry draws over 3500 fans as Hope comes from behind to defeat Calvin and remain undefeated vs D3. The Flying Dutchmen sailed right past Calvin, as they turned a 8 pt deficit into an 11 point lead with a 22-5 burst midway through the 2nd half. Final score was 81-65.

Mr. Ypsi

It sure looked like the undefeated list would shrink tonite - UMHB trailed by double-digits a majority of the game, and has NEVER led.  But they are going to OT in Abilene.
