Nothing can ever be taken for granted in the Tourney  (though if you match up with one of my SLIAC teams, you gotta feel pretty good about getting to Round 2...... BUT ONE OF THESE YEARS!!!)
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

For the undefeated, the team I picked (Hope) is still in the race (against D3).  I know that was not originally part of the contest.  So I challenge magicman to a double or nothing (both are the same in this case) Undefeated Against D3 contest - to continue the competition just a litlle longer???

Sorry FDF, my management team (hopefan) has spoken and I must repectfully decline. (He, being hopefan, and you being FDF, leads me to believe that the "con man from way back" connotation must have some validity ???)  The contest rules state: "Undefeated" it doesn't say "Undefeated Against D3". That's why you have a choice at the beginning of the season. If you aren't sure if your choice can win those non D3 contests then it would be best to make another choice. ;) Or live with your decision. ;D Middlebury clearly has a 0 in their 16-0 record. Hope clearly has not. With two of their toughest games coming up, Middlebury would be at a distinct disadvantage compared to the cupcakes Hope has to play. ;D I'm not going to lose a loaded proposition at this stage of the season and have the lustre taken off my Crown. If we get lucky maybe they'll meet in March. Then we can resurrect this conversation.

magicman - I don't blame you for not "taking the bait".  I will say however, that being called a "con man from way back" by hopefan is alot like having Michael Jordan call me a great basketball player  ;D

That's not just easing off the winless list, that's forcing your way off of it big time.

Now let's hope everyone gets a win!

Amen to that... I actually started hoping I'd lose a few weeks ago.  It has to be miserable going out every single game and getting drilled.

Throughout my entire basketball career, I only once had to suffer through an almost-winless season (it was in 3rd grade basketball... we lost every game up until our final game of the year and we had a 1 point lead with 30 seconds left... I got the ball at the free throw line and just held it for 30 seconds and we got the win!!!  Nobody thought to foul me and there was no closely-guarded rule in that league... you could say I played the system or that I just played to win!)

Good thinkin' for an eight year old!  And you were only 6'1" back then! ;)

I never played on a team that threatened to go winless (some were pretty bad, but never winless), but coached a youth soccer team that was drilled nearly every game, then won the last one - the celebration was almost as if we won the national title! ;D  I think the celebration was actually more joyous than the two soccer teams I coached that went undefeated!

So, yeah, I'm now rooting for all the winless teams.  In fact, if Earlham or Franciscan played my Titans, I think I'd actually root for the other guys (as humiliating as that would be).

If PointSpecial believes that, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell him! ???

Oh all right - I went a bit too far!  I NEVER root against my Titans.  But out of sympathy, I would mourn less than if they lost to a 4-19 team! 8-)

I can accept that. But then you'd have to read the disparaging posts from Titan Q, iwu70, and Greg, ripping the Titans for losing to a 4-19 team. ;D And if it was a winless team it would be even worse!!

While searching for the Rust - Fisk score, I came across the fact that Shorter (no, not Frank) has risen to No 1 in NAIA D1....  ugh, winless Berry has them tonight......

We could, of course, wait until the next Fisk game, compare the W/L record on the stat program and see who won at least.

I don't understand why some schools just don't update their web site at least weekly. Certainly they have some fans around the country, right?

You apparently don't read CCIW Chat much, Mr. Prestidigitator. Yes, Titan Q would tell it like it is and give us a terse three-sentence summary of how awful his alma mater's team looked in losing to a 4-19 team. But iwu70? The words "ripping the Titans" are definitely not in his vocabulary. Instead, he'd talk about the IWU women's team's victory that day ... or bring up some IWU flashback from the Nixon administration ... or give us one of his classic five-paragraph synopses of the glories of the IWU junior varsity. ;)

He doesn't drink the green kool-ade. He filled his pool with it and swims in it. ;)
