woo.. defending losers champ Principia dodges another bullet, pulling out a 3 point loss vs St Louis Pharmacy... I think I'm in trouble when they play the rematch later in the season.... the surprising thing is, they have come close in both games this year without their best returning player, Kenny Sydness, whom I will assume is out with an injury.

hopefan worried about a lot of nothing as Principia goes down to defeat at the hands of St. Louis Pharmacy 71-68.

Two more players made their exit as sac's Baldwin Wallace lost to Wooster 81-74 and zander's Birmingham-Southern got pasted by LaGrange 90-68.

14 players left alive in the Undefeated Pool

We're down to the Top Ten in the Winless Pool. I know it's early but I think the Winless Pool may come down to a Maritime battle between Hoops Fan's from NY and mine from Maine.

Mr.Ypsi has put me in a quandary. His slate this week in the National Pick Em League includes a game between my hometown Plattsburgh State Cardinals and my Undefeated Pool pick, Middlebury. In one sense I can't lose. If Middlebury wins I stay alive in the Undefeated Pool, and if Plattsburgh wins we get a nice win on our ledger over a ranked team and stay undefeated ourselves. But the other side of the coin is if I pick Plattsburgh in the Pick Em league and Middlebury wins, I lose ground to the other players and of course no feather in our cap for a nice win. And if I pick Middlebury in the Pick Em league that would mean I have to root against my Cardinals so I don't lose ground in both contests. I guess I'm going to do the old reverse logic thing as KnightSlappy usually does when Calvin plays Hope. He chooses Hope and hopes Calvin wins. So I'll pick Middlebury and root for my Cards to beat them. I would willingly be glad that I can't win the Undefeated Pool since the prize of a victory over a Top Ten team is a bigger prize than the bragging rights I would win, if Middlebury should once again capture the Undefeated Pool and give me back to back crowns. And sacrificing 1 game to the other players in the Pick Em League is small potatoes because I'll get them back when I make out the schedule in upcoming weeks, which I get to do twice. ;D I did win the Scheduler of the Year Award last year when the entire league couldn't pick their nose the week I made out the schedule. ( Only problem was I couldn't pick very many winners either.) I think my Cards have a chance against the Panthers this year. We hung with them at their place last year for quite a while before they finally pulled away. This year it's our house and I know we're a better team than last year. I'm not sure that the Panthers are a better team than last year, but they are still pretty darn good. I just hope for a good game and curse Mr. Ypsi for this quandary he's laid on me.

Caltech falls to La Sierra 58-44.

smedindy

La Sierra was 13-17 last year, though they were winless before they played Cal Tech. Cal Tech may not be horrible, again, just bad.

Personally, I would never use the terms  horrible or bad when describing the Caltech team. I would just say that they are not as athletically talented as a team as they are in the classroom. They might challenge you to a game on the moon or Mars,
if YOU can make it there.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, even OxyBob !!!!

smedindy

Oh, I support CalTech 1000%, so I don't use 'wretched', 'egregious' or the like. In pure basketball terms, they're...not good. But I admire them.

KnightSlappy

Caltech will likely take a step back now that their rampant cheating has been addressed.

Hugenerd

Caltech also lost one of their best players, Todd Cramer, who transferred to MIT. He hasn't seen much PT for the Engineers yet this season.

hopefan

Academically, is that a transfer down, or a transfer up?? ;D ;D ;D :o :o
