Tracking our losers is kind of fun... what do we have to look forward to?

Principia.. Prin has a schedule that indicates they don't want to retain their losers championship of last year... upcoming games include Rockford (0-4), Blackburn (0-4), Fontbonne (0-4).. if they can't get a win there, there is a big rematch with St Louis Pharma on Jan 22.. Pharma beat Prin by only 3 last week.... add to this that leading returning scorer Kenny Sydness hasn't played yet.. assuming he is out just temporary, the old hopefan is not feeling too comfortable about repeating last year's championship

Franciscan  (Sac)   Franciscan jumped a big hurdle by losing to Oberlin yesterday.. Oberlin's first win.. Franciscan's games to watch in the near future would appear to be D'youville (0-4) on Dec 8 losing by about 40 points per game and OUE on Dec 17 ... OUE I'm assuming is Ohio University Eastern, and they beat Franciscan by 5 last year

SUNY Maritime  (Hoops fan)    SUNY Maritime will have a tough time staying winless in the next couple of weeks, with the likes of NY Poly (1-4) with a win over Sarah Lawrence, Yeshiva (0-0), and Vaughn coming up in the next week and a half..

Caltech  (Mazillgd)   Caltech looks pretty solid until the end of Dec, but could they really lose to Bard on Dec 29...doubtful....  and they may be competitive with the banana slugs prior to that....

Maine Maritime  (Magicman)   Magic must have researched this one, because it looks like a good pick...I mean, right off the bat they lost to UMPI by 36... UMPI!!!!!!....  Any team that loses to UMPI by 36 is capable of winning this contest... However, danger lurks..Maine Augusta is coming up on 11/27, and they are 1-6.  New England College awaits in early January...

Martin Luther   (Mr. Ypsi)    This appears to be a solid pick too... They have lost relatively close to both Viterbo and Waldorf, and have rematches with both in the next week.. January conference games include winless Norhland and St Scholastica, but their blowout losses have been against very good competition.

Elmira  (Zander)  if there were odds in this contest, I'd say Zander might be at the bottom of the list with Elmira... they've lost by 3 and 2 to Cortland and Hamilton...they will win, but I gotta admit, with their next 8 games all on the road against decent competition, they may not get a win until their Jan 3 matchup with Oberlin..

Maranatha  (John Gleich)...  Maranatha has a rough time with D3 teams, but is competitive with other Christian schools... May be tough to get by the Christian tourney 11/29, 11/30, 12/1

Knox   (Augie77)... This could be a great pick... Knox has only played MacMurray, but lost by 30...and the schedule is very solid... in reality, if they lose to Cornell on Dec 4, and get by the Rhodes tourney consolation game prior to Christmas, a win could be hard to find...

odds
Prin 12-1
Franciscan 5-1
NY Maritime 12-1
Caltech 15-1
Maine Maritime  6-1
Martin Luther  4-1
Elmira 10-1
Maranatha  10-1
Knox  1-1

;D ;D    All in fun... I hope you all get a win this week... believe me, your efforts are respected and appreciated....

Unfortunately  I'm still alive in the Undefeated Pool as my Middlebury Panthers defeated my hometown Plattsburgh State Cardinals, 80-73 this afternoon. The only other consolation I have is that the Cardinals largest lead in the game was 9 points while Midd's largest lead was only 7. :D It was a terrific game though and the Cardinals had their chances to upset the 4th ranked team.

Other action from pool teams today:

In the Undefeated pool:

#22 Ohio Wesleyan goes to Rochester and falls by the wayside as the Yellowjackets sting the Battling Bishops 83-68 and Mr. Collindge takes a seat.

Albertus Magnus defeats visiting #23 Wesleyan 82-73

In the Winless pool:

Knox lost to visiting Lake Forest 70-55

Magic... keep your eye on the scoreboard tonight... big game for you in the winless pool...  Maine Maritime vs Maine Augusta

Maritime had 2 wins last year, one ot those was against..... Maine Augusta

sac's pick of Franciscan may not be so prescient - Oberlin kept within 10 of Wooster. They may not be so hapless, and Franciscan may not be by transitive property.

hopefan,

I looked over both team's roster last night. Maine-Agusta has some freshmen that I think may help them get by the Mariners this year. Plus the Mariners lost players that were big contributors in last years' 52-50 win over the Moose. I'm hoping to sneak out a loss to keep me alive in the Winless Pool, but you're right, this could be my Waterloo! ;D

With all of the French Canadians in Maine, it'd be hard to tell which side is supposed to lose a Waterloo.

Right now I'm winning the battle as my Mariners are losing 54-53. I have no idea how much time is left as the video stream has no announcer and they haven't shown the clock since I've been watching. But it's a barnburner.

My Maritimers only lost by 36, a little too close for my liking.

MIT squeaked out a win, so both teams are still alive.

My Maine-Maritime team keeps me alive as they squeak out a loss to Maine Augusta 57-54. When my Mariners were up 51-47 I figured I was done but the Moose came back and ended with a 10-3 run to give me the loss...I mean win.

ahhh the agony of victory, the ecstasy of defeat...congrats on a great loss...... Fortunately, I don't think my Principia team will play that close to Greenville on Thursday... (a game I'll see in person)

and oh by the way .. it seems my undefeated pick has a huge game coming up on Friday...come on Magic, help a buddy out....   you wouldn't be going over to Oswego to see the Cardinals play, would you?
