yikes, Prin loses by 47 in 2nd half...well they won the 1st half!!!!

No one was gonna get excited unless Prin was up 9 with 1 minute to go!  With some teams you just have confidence in their ability to fail - Prin and Franciscan just being primary examples.

(I miss UMPI being a perennial punching bag; Caltech, too - they always seem to win ONE.)

this might have been a carefully orchestrated ruse to get my hopes up.  Hopefan has some connections in the sliac.

Principia 60 Greenville 98

Speaking of Prin, let's not overlook the Prin ladies' performance.. the women are winless in conference, and 2-18 overall, both wins coming over St Louis Pharmacy... one individual's performance caught my eye last night in Prin's 73 - 46 loss to Greenville... check out Sarah Corbit's box score line... she played the whole 40 minutes (just like the men's team, the women dress only 7 players), and had a woeful shooting night.. 4 - 31 from the field, 0-17 from 3's.

Wonder if the NCAA keeps the record for most missed 3's without a make in a game?
Note, this is not the norm for Sarah, who averages 19 ppg, shoots 25% form 3's, and makes 2.6 3's per game....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Shooters keep shooting!

BTW, Principia was only the 4th worst program when you aggregate the women and the men's Massey ratings. Wheelock was at the bottom, with Cairn and Southern Vermont below Principia.

Wow  those others must really be hurting....  I looked up St Louis Pharma, the only team the ladies beat... they are only 2-18 also, having beaten Crowley's Ridge, and the infamous Faith Baptist Bible... yes THAT Faith Baptist whose men's team gave up 130 some to the kid from Grinnel...

Principia's women are actually only 416 out of 436. So while poor, not the worst.

Looking at their record and scores, I'm not sure I can see 20 teams being worse, but then I am not very familiar with the level of Women's hoops in other parts of the country   (believe me, SLIAC women's hoops is not real strong  ::) ::))

The Colonial States, NECC and NEAC seem to have the dregs of the women's teams. The bottom teams keep 'beating up' each other and losing by large margins to others.

Plymouth state at 1-21 and who have lost 20 straight games should be in the running as well.  They've been held to 33 or less in the last 3 games and 39 or less 4 of the last 5 games.

They're only 401st in the Women's rankings, and while the men are bad too they're combined not bad enough to get into the 'bottom' 25.

Over 400 of the women are pretty bad teams.

Nice to see that the winner of the Winless Pool won't be an unclaimed team. It's looking more and more like a shared crown between our last two surviving players.

As the season winds down i can only say what if Cornell College didn't have off nights?

Last year my winless pick was Millikin.  They finished with a record of 1-24, winning only against Cornell 58-57, holding on thanks to a missed buzzer-beater.

This year I went with Knox.  With only a game against 16-6 Carroll remaining on their schedule they will almost certainly end up at 1-22.  Cornell was once again their only victim, falling 84-80.  And Cornell really isn't all that bad.  They're always good for a few wins each year.

There must be some kind of consolation prize for finishing 2-46 over a two year period   :'(

Millikin, btw, has to be the turnaround team of the year in D-3.  They've gone from back-to-back one win seasons to a rising force in the tough CCIW, nearly competing for a conference tournament spot, and playing virtually all freshmen.  Their second year coach, Matt Nadelhoffer, should be the CCIW coach of the year in my opinion, though Ron Rose of conference unbeaten Illinois Wesleyan is also deserving, and will probably get the award.  Rose wasn't buried in the dungeon the way Nadelhoffer was, so I would say his was the greater coaching success.

Very bizarre... I suggest picking someone who doesn't play Cornell next year, and just to be sure, make sure they don't play the one in Ithaca, either ;D ;D
