I know that FCGrizzlies will probably beat me in making the 1st choice because he has high speed internet and I don't. :P
Hey... I waited an entire 2 seconds after midnight to give everyone a chance :D

Albertus has a couple tough early games with likely Richard Stockton game 2, then Purchase not long after. If they survive those two then they might not lose the rest of the season.
Pine Manor is just starting their mens team this year.

Hey Grizz,

I think you better find an alternate choice. Pine Manor is D3 because they have other teams that have already competed in D3 but they have never had a basketball team. This year's team is a club team and none of their results will even count in another D3 teams won-lost record. If you play them and win it's like the game never took place as far as the NCAA is concerned. I know this because they ended up in a tournament at Buffalo that Plattsburgh State was going to participate in because the Buff State coach called and told Plattsburgh's coach that he had a team cancel on him and would Plattsburgh, who at the time had an open date, please fill in for him as the 4th team. We agreed to do that only to discover they only had club status and the game woudn't count in our record. We quickly cancelled out of the tournament and Buff State cancelled the tournament because they didn't want to play them either. Pine Manor is worse than picking a provisional team and I don't think "club teams" are eligible for this contest.

They are on d3hoops.com as having a team. Their site says nothing about being a club team. Maybe Pat has a ruling on them.

The trip to Buffalo is on Pine Manor's schedule, but they are no longer on Buff State's.

15 minutes in and there's Controversy. Cue Prince...

I had a discussion about them with Pat over 2 months ago. I didn't think their games would count because they were a first year program  and I thought they would have provisional status.

These were his replies:

Pine Manor will count -- what it will count for, I'm not sure, but they're a D-III program and will count (likely poorly) towards SOS, etc.

Thanks Pat,
I saw this will be their first year with a men's program. Are they in their 1st year of provisional status?

No, Pine Manor is a full Division III member and has been for some time now. Provisional status only applies to a school entering Division III for the first time, not new programs fielded by that school.

Then I was told by coaches from both schools that they were a club team and that Pine Manor's game  wouldn't count in Plattsburgh's or Buff State's standings. So both schools cancelled the games they had scheduled against them. That's all I know. ???

I understand why they're not provisional. Provisional isn't based on sport, it's based on institution.

Does the NCAA have a ruling? Maybe the coaches just wanted an 'out' for playing a team they'd roll by 60 or so?

I'm quite good at being a pest ;D

If I'm required to change I'll take Knox.

Plattsburgh's Coach Curle knew he'd win the game by a huge margin and he was fine with that until he found out that it wouldn't count as a game because of Pine Manor's club status. That's when both SUNYAC schools cancelled their games. Beating up on a D3 team that's not very good is one thing but if the win doesn't count as a win then what's the point?

I don't know if club status is confirmed - maybe we say alleged club status until it's proven? I don't want to unfairly tag a team as not varsity, especially if they're just starting a program...

I agree...I'm just repeating what I was told by the coaches. Maybe they were misinformed but they were told the game wouldn't count.

Undefeated  :  Augustana....   I'll be in good shape for a while if they can get by Whitewater

Winless  :  Principia... quite the gamble as they open with Lincoln Christian... but if they lose there, I like my chances until Mid January when they have Iowa Wesleyan and STL Christian....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Incidentally, I'm not running my spreadsheet this year, so somebody is going to have to track winless and undefeated catagories, as well as winless and undefeated vs D3...

What region is Wilson in? I know they are in Pennslyvania and in the NEAC but couldn't find them in any region. Are all the NEAC teams going to be in the East Region? That's what KnightSlappy said over on the Conference Changes board back in September but the D3hoops Region breakdown doesn't show them all in the East. Right now D3hoops is showing 6 NEAC teams in the East and 4 NEAC teams in the Middle Atlantic. The other 3 teams..Wilson, Bryn Athyn, and Pennslyvania College of Technology aren't listed in any region. Maybe because Bryn Athyn and Pennslyvania College will be 1st year provisional members next year they aren't listed this year...but Wilson should be in some region.
I see that  the Landmark is now all in the Middle Atlantic instead of multiple regions and the same goes for the CAC but the NEAC changes haven't been made. What's up with that Pat?

At any rate, I think you may have the winner ronk. This is a first year program with almost no height to speak of. Unless they get ahold of the absent minded professor's formula for flubber they're in for a long season.

Whaaat??  ??? I thought now that you've retired you'd not only do those things that you did previously but even join us again on the pick em board and the NCAA fantasy league in March. Must be you have too much work now that you've retired. ;D
